It is a sweet story about finding a cat on a postal route. My favorite parts were the opening and the cat's antics. All is well that ends well. Kittens can learn to hunt. I trained mine with a ribbon...He learned to leap and pounce..chase ..and capture . I was not happy when he brought a baby rabbit to me..dropped it..then chased it around the house with me running after them. Nice story.

Thank you. I have seven cats and, even though they are well fed, they still like to kill things. It is the instinct of cats to hunt. I don't like it either, but I don't know how one could stop them.

Your brother sounds like man after my own heart. I, too, am a stray magnet.

I love this story. It moves along well, and never once did my attention falter. You write beautifully. I hope to see more of your work.

I like the description you gave at the first of the piece, about how the wood seemed mystical. I always feel that way about misty, dark wood. Good job. 8-)

A warm and fuzzy story, of something that still happens but not often enough. It is written well enough that I breezed through without stumbling once. Excellent.

Your story is very nicely related to the readers. I like to believe there is goodness lurking about everywhere. I like happy endings, too. I feel the kitten went to a great home with Emily and family. Best of luck in the contest. Loren

Thank you. This story was told to me by my brother. He was a good kind man and was always helping animals and people. He passed away in 2008 of liver cancer caused by agent orange in Viet Nam

What a lovely story, and what a lovely person your brother is, was, I am particularly fond of lost animals/found stories, we have had many a cat/dog land on our front door step. I really enjoyed this well written and well plotted story, most absorbin, no typos or syntax problems, well done, blessings, Roy

Your description allows me to feel what it might be like to be walking in those woods. I'm sure on a rainy day, that route may be a little less soothing. Maybe there was a guardian angel watching over that little kitten. I'm sure glad he was able to find a home. I'm sure he'll make Emily quite happy, and vice versa! Good luck in the contest.

Hiya,

well, the title certainly drew me in linked to this picture!

I love the second paragraph, very descriptive and sets a great tone.

I would maybe consider sticking a language warning on it. I know asshole & bitch aren't bad but I've been castigated before for using 'shit'. (not literally)lol

A very nice piece and something I think unexpected and all the better for it.

Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you. If you think I should put a language warning on it then I will. I always take your advice. I was just writing it as my brother told it to me. He often talked about the road-rage drivers. It was one of his pet peeves.

Love, love, love this! How serendipitous that you could weave a true story around a photo prompt. Very creative embellishment of non-fiction. Best of luck in the contest, I imagine many will lean toward the supernatural or UFO aspect. This was so unique and fresh.

Thank you. I'm not much for supernatural, spooky stuff. I like human nature stories. My brother was a very caring person. Except for road-rage drivers LOL

I think this is the best of these stories that I have read. Your writing flows smoothly and i see no errors. Your story is both enchanting and believeable at the same time
