Hi Missy,
firstly, let me start where you finish... with your notes... transitions are the hardest on family, friends and of course the ones they are so connected to... their significant others... their tethered heartstrings... whilst the physical pain and loss seems unbearable... the tether can never be severed from one's heart.

So in saying that... my deepest and humblest condolences to you your family and of course Uncle Randy... times of anyone's transition is not an easy time.

This poem you have so eloquently composed says so much without telling too much... it capture the essence... the important snapshots that paints the picture... I love the thought of...
'And made my heart smile'.

Again, sorry for your loss... and these are truly beautiful words...
I'll not say "goodbye" my love-- Only... 'Till we meet again... Amen!

With our thoughts we create,
threads of certainty,
James vx's.

I am so very pleased to read this, James. I actually was wondering if you were alright. I hope life is being kind to you and Jade.

Hi Missy... well, life is being life, maybe not kind, but that also may just be my perspective. So many things have come to a head... My mother has a very limited time left as she battles her way with cancer's... she turned 72 in January... they say a two months, but in what capacity?... and with me, my injury has kept me, well, in limbo... I can't walk very far, and or stand up for any period of time without my right leg going numb... now I'm used to negotiating pain, but I'm in uncharted territories with the symptoms... but in saying that, I am able to get into the water and keep my muscle strengthening up to a certain degree... can't tell you how grateful I feel about small mercies... so, I've been travelling up to see mum every Sunday... it's a whole day proposition trying to negotiate the heavy traffic... and well, it's taking its toll on my injury... but I'd crawl on all fours if I had to... So yes, I am doing my best to remain focused across my range of scope... it's a very hard time all 'round... but there's no escaping it... that's life, hey? And yes, there are other mitigating circumstances that are always going to throw a spanner in the works... but that is where the 'focus' comes in so one doesn't get lost in the bush(in one's mind)... I haven't been that attentive to the site at present... I come in when I can... I have written a few poems, but have not posted due to having the commitment to replying... guess it shouldn't matter, I don't get over-run with reviews in any case... but as you know, I can be a little long-winded in my replies... that's just me, I feel an individual reply is respectful to those who give of their time... yeah, like I said... long-winded... smile)))))))... hope you are well under your own circumstances... and yes, really sorry for your family's loss... it ain't easy!... vx's.

It wasn't until I read your notes that the power of your poem and the structure made sense. Condolences to you and your family at your Aunt's passing. I think it's a great idea to imagine the her words and feelings as told to Randy and express them poetically. You've done that very well and hinted at some very close knowledge of the participants in the narrative: Remembering what great adventures we've had
Places we've seen
Friends we've made
The closing passages are very sweet and very suitable for this type of personal tribute. Are you showing this to the family.
Believe it or not I needed to read this as I need inspiration for a similar poem I'm struggling with. My elderly neighbour's wife died yesterday. I've known them vaguely for forty years, but only recently became friends of the husband as he battled to cope with her dementia. I've promised to write a poem for the funeral. The problem is that she could be a difficult woman and had few friends. The gathering will be small. Getting the write tone and point of view will be hard. Your work gives me ideas and I thank you for that.

Oh, Missy, what a gloriously beautiful tribute. I thought when I saw your name on my queue today, "Here's my Missy with a love poem," and, my dear, I wasn't wrong. It was every bit a love poem freely given to your Aunt Becky. I hope you print this on beautiful paper and present it to her.

Now, as my eyes close for the last time
Know that it's your face, your love
I'll carry with me

I'll not say "goodbye" my love
Only
Till we meet again

Missy, this is superbly written and from your tender poetic heart. Lovely

This is a beautiful poem, and I hope it brings some comfort to you and your family. I had to almost laugh at the fight (tooth and nail) against the grey hair, I've been doing the same thing myself for a few years - lol. I think that he felt her love, even if she wasn't able to speak and tell him.
So sorry for your loss,
Carol
