Excellent imagery with the descriptions of being swallowed by a whale and the description of the table like a tongue. It just adds to the humor and the terror of the experience.
I can imagine you singing, "we're off to see the wizard". How fun that you had a nurse with a good sense of fun who lifted your spirits by chiming in. You have such a positive attitude which seems to get you through thought times.
Engaging writing that makes even a trying and boring time into an adventure.

Thanks for the exceptional review, debi. I never thought of my analogy as one of terror too. But it is. Frank has no patience so I have learned to stay calm in the hopes he will practice it too.

Thanks, Joann, for the reward of a six. As Forest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."
To be honest, I thought that line was really hokey and didn't make sense. :-)

I agree, because you can see which is dark chocolet, or nuts,

Wow! Having just been through much of the same, I can relate to this post very well. My biggest fear was a short little oriental nurse, who at every turn, was there to poke me and take my blood for this, that and the other thing. This was very well written and I could feel your frustration. I hope you're okay now. Best wishes to you, my good friend.

Always with respect,

Thanks, Eigle, for the six. It's always nice to hear from you again. I can picture you trying to understand an oriental accent. That alone is frustrating.

Unusual layout for this chapter. I almost get the feeling that you are talking directly to the reader. It has a kind of post it note like effect. Very direct and very much to the point. Your humor shines through in this episode, the description of the machine as a whale and the thought that the hospital sells the picture from the MRI to porno sights, etc. You also capture well the attitudes of those rehab nurses. They are certainly tough.

I didn't notice any spag. I enjoyed this chapter. I can't help but wonder what else you might have been thinking as the MRI snapped picture after picture of you.

    Hi Diane,
How are you doing in your new house?
Always good to hear from you.
I felt this chapter and the next are relatively unexciting without the humor and different layout. Still working to make the next chapter funny.
As for what I was thinking, I really kept wondering why I was getting the images of aqua and peach gauze! The doctor had no answer for that. Sigh...

I hate MRI's. I have claustrophobia and the noise is horrendous. I can certainly identify with the hospital, nursing home, pain, difficult nurses, etc. A good post, my friend~Debbie

I wish I had been your nurse, nothing worse than crabby nurses. You had me laughing with the line about porno sites. MRIs are not fun and many can relate to your experience. Excellent writing about your hospital experience.

Thanks, Elaine. I take it you're one who brings sunshine into a patient's room. They're few and far between. :-)

Hi, Shari.
You described so well all the wonders that take place in the hospital. Nurses are overworked, some like you shared remind me of Nurse Ratchet from One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest.
Your description of the MRI machine is excellent, not only the descriptions but the humour you used even in the most difficult times.

I burst out laughing at your last paragraph, covering all the bases of giving thanks and prayer. :D
Bye, my friend!
Hugs
Rosalyne :)

Kiss for the six, Rosalyne. It's good to look back and make jokes about it. At the time, it sure wasn't fun.

That sounds like a horrible experience, Shari, and one that you hopefully never have to have repeated. I'd heard that it was unpleasant having a MRI scan, but I had no idea it took so long. I have always imagined you to be a very 'active' person, so I'm sure the hospital stay and follow up treatment was hard to endure.

I look forward to finding out what happened next (I think!)

It's amazing how much damage a fall at my age can do. I miss being able to walk fast. I limp a little even after all these years. Thanks goodness my fingers are still working as fast as ever. :-)

I can relate to your story as you describe the MRI equipment as a whale. I have been inside of those"Whales" and It seems life a person is being devoured with all the banging and whir. Good story, true story.
