Hi Jimmy
An excellent limerick and great use of the 'uggery". You put a warning, so no one reading this should be offended. You have it spot on, not just in your USA, but down here in Australia. I used to find the odd politician respectable and filled with a desire and passion to make something of our country and for our people. Nowadays ... and now I'm wondering even back in the day ... is there such a thing as an honest politician, and lets throw global bizz fat cats and lawyers into the mix.
Everyone seems to be out for themselves and personal gain rather than what we need as a country. ME FIRST!! You are quite right, and for those of us still with some optimism and the belief of good over greed are ... well, that's where your last line comes in.
Limericks originated as bawdy bits of fun, and perhaps the shock value in getting a message across. Some are merely for fun, some contain a strong message. I think you've use some great poetic technique in your limerick, as well as a good social comment. Pleased you were genteel in your image, I can imagine much worse than what comes natural in the world of nature. Great work. I think you deserve a six for this one my friend. If this is a sample, you have this form down pat, and with a certain talent that only some can do so well in this form. Bravo!! Hugs - Lovi xoxox

Lovinia.
I can't tell you how much I am delighted with this this "six". Not just because it is a six , But a six from you. You are one of the people that I really look up to on this site. I keep a file on the in formation you sent me on the Haiku, and take it out to make sure I follow the rules properly each time I write one. Anyway Getting a six from you is a big deal for me. Thank you so very much.
This limerick touched a nerve with many people, as I hoped it would. People are just feed up with the villein politicians that control our world.
Thanks again Jimmy

I wrote a book of 601 limericks.
Re your note: never apologize for your poetry. Also, the probability is that your illustration involves a male and a female. There are no missionaries I monkey-land.
Oh, BTW, you wrote a fair-to-middlin limerick, JAXPOET.

Thanks for your read and comment. Please send me the name of your book and let me know which of your limericks are the best. I want to get good at this stuff. I thought this was pretty good. I just sent your "Emerson" epiphany to a friend of mine. I thought it was terrific.

Never apologize for your opinion. I enjoyed you political limerick. Great imagery and direction. The syllable count was flawless and it was quite humorous. Gretchen

Not offensive -- just funny and, I'm afraid, true in many ways.
You've done a great job with your "uggery" words in this well written limerick. And the picture . . . . perfect. It could be a few of those unsavory politicians who I am really afraig might "empty our plate" if elected. Yuggery!!
Well done. Alana

The only offense that is here
Can be the picture filled
Nothing for all the cautions
Just animals playing politicians
They do play like the animals
Pictured here but with their words
Never to be trusted fairly
Unless they are given money for thrills

Skulduggery Great word describing what politician practice. Love that word. Great review, "Just animals playing politicians". Really says it all.
Thanks

No offense taken. In fact, the candidates seem to have an
ass obsession. It's the only thing that seems to turn them
on! Nice going. -Bill

Ass Obsession!! Only you would come up with that. It must come from to many years of clinical research. I'll just keep laughing if you don't mind.
thanks Jim

I never thought of the "-uggery" rhyme--very clever, and your likerick so timely. Your poem fits the scoundrels to a tee, and I'm sorry if it offends, but the truth makes a powerful statement! Cheers- Joan

What got me going with uggery was skullduggery. it is a great word for describing politicians. It ran around in my head for about a week then I put into rhyme zone saw thuggery and buggery and bang I had the base for a limerick. Skulldugger is a great word. Thanks for the review and the great comments.

Haha. Maybe I don't get it but I don't find it offensive. Not really funny either. I'm Finnish so I don't always understand everything. If you want to explain, I would like to learn.
Thank you for sharing!
Blessings!

I'll give it a try. Thuggery is being a thug or bad guy that mistreats others. the metaphor is politicians mistreat the voters Skullduggery is being a conniver or someone who intentional tries to trick you. That is what politicians do. They tell you what you want to hear then do what they want to do. and buggery (anal intercourse) is a metaphor for what the politicians do to the voters. so the humor comes from rolling that all into a cathy limerick. The picture is yet an other metaphor for what the politicians do to you. Hope that helps. and thanks for the blessings and the review.
Thanks

This is not just a good Limerick but it contains a lot of truth within it. Interesting picture but the wording is clever and has got great humour. Thank you for sharing your little ditty.
Bless you
