This is such a beautifully descriptive story. How wonderful to grow up in such a breath taking place.
Some children never make out of the concrete jungles that are today. What a shame it has all gone.
We humans certainly know how to ruin a good party.

This is written as beautifully as the place you described. I enjoy the stories of a simple time and this took me there. I agree progress not only destroys beauty it destroys childhood memories. maybe they relocated old Mossy Moses. I hope so! Great write and read.

A couple of suggestions for your consideration. Usually, fewer words are better. You had me there though. It is a shame to see things like this destroyed. Bill

(correctly I believe Dad) replace "I believe" with a comma. Since you've established the pronoun "I", don't think Dad should be capitalized
(kind of) just drop kind of, reads better
(Basically,) just drop basically

This is a beautiful story. I felt I was right there in the swamp, too. Keep those wonderful memories in your mind and heart, and you will always have your swamp. 8-)

A great entry for a sense of place entry, you really bought the swamp to life. I suppose I always associate a swamp as a dangerous, stinky unforgiving place yet you have opened my mind. Good luck.
