This is an interesting and informative chapter. Comfortable shoes are critical. Men do seem to hang onto their shoes for too long. It's good to have a strong marriage. We are supposed to be there for each other in sickness and in good health.

Your reference to the 'rehab' centre made me wonder if you suffered alcohol withdrawal! Maybe, it's what we would call 'outpatient care centre'.

No alcohol problem. But I fell and had to have my hip put back together and learn how to handle walking situations.

It is awful when a bad doctor botches a surgery. Your story does show the strong bond between you and Frank, and you had to work hard taking care of him. Your story shows how much you had to do while he was recuperating. I am looking forward to reading how Frank took care of you.

Thanks, Elaine. The incident made me realize how much I depended on him for the trivial tasks. LOL

Shady doctors. Too bad you couldn't have sued him. What a quack!!! I'd like to have seen you wrestling with that wheelchair. I know how awkward they are. It sounds like you won more battles than it did. My heel spur is still bothering me, but seems to be subsiding. New shoes are a must. Frank's right though about how much they cost verses how long they last.

No doubt that you and Frank have a most solid and envious relationship, envious to those that have less happy marriages and those who are single and believe that marriage may be just a dream. No doubt that the two of you love each other very much. Your personalities compliment each other and the two of you work together and support each other.

Now, to your accident. Was it when you tripped over the cat? I remember you telling me something about hurting yourself after an unfortunate encounter with the cat. My Siamese is called Jacque, but he has two nick names. Jacque a Roo and Jacque Under Foot. He gets kicked a lot, not hard though. He is mostly more Roo than Under Foot now. I guess he got tired of getting kicked. When he gets anxious he searched for high ground. It's like his feet can't bear to feel the earth beneath them or the carpet. He's sweet cat. Always by my side, but he would need a therapist if he were human...

I'm very fortunate to have married the right man for me. Yes, my fall in the one involving Rosie. She's half Siamese. The purebreds can difficult and downright mean. But I can't bear the thought of your kicking him!
reply by Donya Quijote on 14-Feb-2016
I've had two purebreds, two applehead seal points. Best, sweetest cats ever. No aristocat type siamese here. I don't actually kick him. He mostly just rides my foot. I would never just kick an animal. Not sure if Yoda is purebred or not. He's a flame point, applehead too. He looks like a toasted marshmallow, one that's not burned. Irving is a grey and white and 100% fuzzy Heinz 57 cat, ornery as can be, but I'd be lost without him. I think males are different from females. Males tend to be very affectionate; females do their own thing. This is based on my experience. Females, though, can be very devoted to their owners. Gypsy Rose was mine and only mine, and I had to leave her with my mom while I was deployed for a year. My mom was like the Pied Piper of cats. There hadn't been a cat that wouldn't become devoted to my mom until Gypsy came along.

What a sweet story. I can't understand why some people hate cats.

Thanks a whole bunch for the sixer. My mother had problems with bunions, but I don't recall surgery. At least research everything you can find on the subject. God bless the internet. :-)

I'm so sorry to hear about Frank's foot. Must be awful if there's no more they can do for it. Mark is a huge help to me now that I can do very little. I couldn't survive without him, and I wouldn't want to anyway.

Hi, Shari.
What an awful experience Frank went through with his foot. The butcher who called himself a doctor was horrible. Instead of helping and improving, he made all so much worse. The way you described this event is well done from the running shoes to the medical procedure.

What stands out most is the relationship you and Frank share together, a love that isn't built on things, but a solid foundation of giving to one another. You showed the beautiful bond you both share by caring for Frank when he needed.
Bye, my friend!
Rosalyne :)

I'm so glad this comes through. I'm his caretaker now that his mind is going. Thank goodness we both have a sense of humor. Thanks for the six. You're a peach-er- rose. :-)

My last six for all the hurt and suffering you go thru. And Frank. Shari, I wish I could help. I send all the best wishes I can, and pray that all goes well. I sincerely believe our system, and I'm talking about government in general, is designed to 'get rid' of people as quickly as they can when we no longer 'contribute'. This is just my theory. Who knows. I'm terrified at what is coming. Love and hugs my friend. x

Awk! But an awful thought. Personally though, I'd rather die than be in pain or useless. Thanks so much for the six.
I look on each challenge as another set of training wheels:-)

I'm as guilty as Frank when it comes to keeping tennis shoes for a very long time. If the soles are still good, but parts have come unglued elsewhere, I keep a bottle of Gorilla Glue around to patch 'em back up and make 'em as good as new once more. I've got one pair of Korean Nike Air knock-offs I bought at a flea market in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2007. They still look almost brand new today, some nine years later.

It's pretty friggin' scary to think there are doctor Frankensteins out there like Dr. Benjamin who are allowed to perform surgery on people. Jumpin' Jesus, I would'a hunted the guy down and cut HIS achellis tendon in two, and without using anesthetic. He'd be very lucky if that's ALL I cut, heh-heh...

When my ex-wife went through the Police Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio, she suffered a combined simultaneous rupture of both the patellar tendon and the anterior cruciate ligaments while running the obstacle course. I helped bathe her, get her on and off the pot, did all of the household chores, took her to rehab twice per week, and still went to work.
A lotta good it did me, considering where she is now, heh-heh. But, would I do it all over again, even knowing what I know now?
You bet your ass I would...

Another great chapter, Shari.

How endearing. You just earned yourself a lot of good karma. Yes, I miffed that the doctor just got a slap on the wrist.

HI Shari ...

So sorry to hear about Franks issues with his heel. But the manner in which you show the loyalty and love between the two of you is so precious and worth more than any rating I could give you.

It's so sad to be left short when people we trust do us wrong ... doctors are no exception.

One thing for your consideration ... you wrote: Back home again, I lugged it from the trunk again and assisted Frank out of the car, pullet up the leg rest, and tipped the whole two hundred pounds over the curb and in through the door.

** I think you meant to write "pulled", rather than "pullet".

Another good, solid chapter ... love it!

Best to you & Frank. Hugs ...

Alan

Fixed the spag a long time ago. Trying to keep up with reviewing and posting my own. You know how that is! Next chapter, something affects my walking too!

    Hi Shari ...

Yes, I know how that is ... it's a war time between writing and reviewing.

I printed out that chapter not long after you posted it, but just got to reviewing it the other day. I guess I should have looked to see id you'd already attended to that "pullet - pulled" issue. My bad!

Will read that next chapter just as soon as I can get to it... probably late tonight or tomorrow. Looking forward to it ... as I always do.

    Best to you & Frank.

I have yet to write the next chapter. I'll be lucky to get it done this week!

Well, whenever it's done, I'll be here to read it. I really enjoy your straight forward manner of writing. It's as though I'm listening to to you tell me a story on the chair next to mine ... rather than reading it. It;s always pleasure to read your writing. Best to you & Frank ...

I love how it highlighted the importance of patience and love for a successful marriage. Very touching. Although, it could be improved by explaining who 'Franks ghost' is. The 'ghost' you mentioned in the opening sentence. As I am a new member of Fanstory and this is my first review, you should clarify.

The idea is to go back to the previous chapter and find out. That's really not part of the post, but just a summary to remind those who are following the story of what happened in the previous chapter. Welcome to FS, Michelle. Thank you for citing what you did like.
