This reminded me of a holiday I had a few years back. It was my first time flying and although I was scared the excitement kicked in as soon as I was airborne. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Hi dmt1967. Thanks for reading and reviewing my poemand glad to bring back a good memory. I enjoy flying but sometimes the waiting can be a bit long so I always carry a notebook and pen now. Never know when a poem will crop up .Thanks for your comments and good luck wishes Cheers

What a thorough observation you have narrated of your recent wait at airport for a flight that got delayed. Apparently, the time wasted was put to better use in penning this free verse. For others, time was flying away and they were competing with laptops and phones not to fall behind.

Hi scd41. I am pleased you stopped to spend some time to read and review my free verse entry, I enjoyed watching the people and thought It lent itself to a bit of a write, also filled in my time LOL. I rarerly write free verse, but this one just seemd to fit the bill. Appreciate your review and rating Cheers

Wow - this was a great read! It's smooth as silk, and pulled me into it as if I were the one sitting in that airport observing what was happening around me! Really, really good!
At first I felt the disconnect of people so involved with technology - it was such a disturbing feeling, and I was somewhat sad at the sterility, the lack of human connection.
But then you turn it around by describing the mounting impatience, and further that emotion with the frustration of failed technology, which ironically turns out to be the very thing that brings people together (as they begin "chatting" and so on).
To me, this amazing free verse is very much a 'sleeper' - it's a complete surprise (or was to me) that a topic so everyday becomes such an enormous poem of social commentary. In fact, if I had a six, this gem would have one.

I found once I started writing this it all just tumbled out and I had hoped it would work as a free verse ( I rarely write free verse and prefer rhyme and meter but I am pleased with this one. and your review is most welcome so thanks so much . Hi, mate. This poem just showed how observant you are while waiting. You were able to describe every little detail. I love the choice of words, it adds interest and enjoyment in reading. A writer, wherever he is, the talent will always show. Beautiful one. All the best in the competition.

I can relate to this free verse flying on a Jet plane. Delays what ever the reason can be troubling especially when I m eager to return home. But to complain does not help me to get into the plane. Just half to be b patient and wait. Even if I am going to be late. Thanks for sharing what happens when the flight is delayed. All the best.
