I had to go back and to some catching up. I would have been deeply hurt but I think you handled not being able to go to the memorial quite well. Now to find out what your sisters has to say about her relationship with your mother. I do hope it goes well.

I am so shocked that your sister did not want Bobby or you to attend her memorial service. I am sorry your eulogy was not fully spoken at her service. She looks so good in this picture.

She looked good even after the steroid medication bloated her face. I'll post that picture later.

It is hurtful when some one who's related is embarrassed by you. My brothers always been the cool kid, you know, hanging out with the hip crowd, and always been the nerd. I can definitely relate to your feelings. A good chapter even though it's a sad event, and I curious about Barb's unexpressed feelings for your mother. Good stuff there, Spitfire.

Oh, my God, this is too close to home right now. My daughter verbally attacked me for the last time a month ago, and so I have detached. The poison that spouted from her mouth; honestly, I have been doing alot of research...Barb sounds like she might have had Borderline Personality Disorder...the ups and downs, the anger, the self-righteous grievances...always a victim. You are like my other daughter...always choosing to see the good, knowing that nobody can make another person feel unhappy...it is up to the person to choose if they want to be happy or want to always be right. Hurry for the next chapter.

Hi Maggie, thanks for sharing your similar situation. I can just see my sister's righteous indignation if I suggested she had any disorder! We were the dysfunctional ones. You have my personality tagged right. Hope to get the next chapter on Sunday or Monday. Unusually busy week!

Did she read what you wrote? She seemed the type that had to have her approval and last word on everything about her. It's just the unique perfectionist way she was.

Good insight, joann. Appreciate the exceptional review too. I assumed she read it since two sentences I wrote were used.

I hope, whatever Barb's problems are regarding your mom, she was able to resolve them before she died. If I remember rightly, it was Barb who caused so many problems after your mum moved in with you. Hopefully the reasons can be explained.

Yes, it was Barb that caused dissension and gave my mother grief. I never expected her to try to understand Mom's POV. Thanks for you input. What are you working on now?

Hi Shari ...

This must have been a difficult chapter to write. Being excluded from the service and having only a line or two of your eulogy used had to hurt like hell. I have a sister somewhat like Barbara. Life has not been particularly kind to her, mostly because of her personality. She thinks anyone who wears fancy clothes, much make-up, flashy jewelry and the like are just a bunch of show-offs and has little to do with them. She's like that with other family members, too.

An excellent write. The teaser ending at the end of the chapter was just perfect to raise our curiosity. Terrific writing, my friend. Hugs ...

Wow! There's two of them around. LOL.
Yes, it bothered me because I don't understand the reason why.

    Shari ...

Many times not knowing hurts more than actually knowing, even if it's not the best of news.

My sister never wears make-up ... none. She won't buy a car that looks a little sporty or has a bright color ... usually brown, pale bluer or off-white.

Anyway, it's been my pleasure to read along with your very touching and candid journal. You've done a great job with it! Best to you and Frank...

    Alan

PS: How is Frank doing? I think about you and him from time to time. Hope he's holding steady.

Health wise, Frank's doing ago. But memory is another story. Last night he took a shower and fifteen after he got out he told me he would take a shower in the morning. (He used to shower every night, for the past year or so, it's once a week if he remembers. No, he doesn't have BO. LOL
reply by ProSongwriter on 15-Jan-2016
HA! ... BO. I'm delighted his physical health is maintaining. I wish him ... and you ... the best with the memory situation. I kinda like you guys, ya know! I'll keep both of you in y thoughts and prayers ...

Whoa, the order from your sister is really shocking. That must've sent you for a big loop.

Ah I see kind of. It is good to remember people we loved as they were when slender and beautiful.

HAHA. My aunt always bugs me about my flamboyant earrings. Till I started ribbing her about her barely visible little tiny pearls.

Oh my land, it sounds like Barbara has something important to say.

This is all really rough stuff, Shari, but well written.

Turn about is fair play. :-)
A thought just occurred to me that maybe Barbara felt she had no right to inconvenience us!

Well, she also deals with her feelings for your mother. Looks like she's trying to close old wounds before passing on, maybe hoping to be remembered as a better person than she was?

According to her colleagues and students, she was an extraordinary person and put 110 percent effort into her work. They all loved her. They were her family, not us. Maybe that's what happens when you have a high IQ?
reply by Phyllis Stewart on 13-Jan-2016
Oh, so she was too good for you guys, eh? Sad.

It seems so unfair that your sister would exclude you by asking you not to come to her funeral or even allowing you to say anything. I thought funerals were to comfort the living. She seems self centerd and selfish to the last. And, no, a video tape is not the same as being there.

Your had a great hook leading into this chapter and you have another finishing it off. What could she possibly have to say? I know wait for it ...

Considering that life gave me a better deal, I couldn't hold to resentment, thank goodness. Look where that got her!
