I can't comment on structure of a sonnet as I am still trying to understand it myself, however the rhyming is great and the couplet is really powerful. I love the picture and colours you have chosen they really do make you think of autumn.

What a lovely Sonnet contest entry, yeltel. From the captivating art to your actual sonnet.

Your first stanza expressed in such a sad way the truth of the reality of aging. It put a lump in my throat.

I loved the promise of your two lines...
"Yet we have inner strength, and we survived
the trials and errors that we did endure."

(We sure did endure, didn't we, or we still wouldn't be here!)

Re your last two lines,
"And when our journey ends at heaven's gate,
we rest and pause - a lifelong was the wait"

(I can well identify with that, since I will be 90 in
March! And Thank God I'm in good health and still
kicking, LOL!)
