This is by far the best writing I've read today. It could only have been written by someone experienced in the age care industry.
As one who watched my own father slide into dementia I congratulate you for your articulating the tragic circumstance so precisely. Your compassion is appreciated greatly.
And I've not yet spoken of the poem itself. It was superb in every sense

Thank you Bob Cullen, for the awesome review and six stars! So glad you enjoyed this enough to award an exceptional rating for this. I'm - albeit at a distance - watching my father slide into this too (my parents live a ten hour round trip away from me). Mum keeps me posted, and I don't think it'll be long before he goes into care and I'm telling ya, I'm dreading it!

First, I must congratulate and thank you for the profession you have chosen. It is a tough job to raise the spirits of the older people neglected by their own children for whom they lived and worked through out their lives. Wish you all the best in the contest

Thank you Sambangi, but no congratulations necessary! Most family members try to come and visit, but are time poor due to work and other commitments. It's a bloody hard slog for them, and the poor elderly folk who miss them painfully. But the other side of the coin, is how much water has gone under the bridge with families, as to why some oldies very rarely, or never, get visitors. Again, thanks for your thoughtful review!
