This is a well written piece. Perfect match with the image. I love the last stanza:
I wish that I could fly
Like eagles soaring free
So far above the trees
Across the open sky
To unknown destinies.

Message is well delivered. Keep it up. Good work.

Another new poetry form - is there no end to them?!~ :O)

This is a very pretty form on a topic I find most interesting. We imagine that this is one of man's deepest wishes, to be able to fly like a bird, to have the freedom to soar. How many millennia did it take for even a poor cousin of a bird's natural ability to become available to man. Planes, balloons, hang-gliders etc none of them have the ease and grace of our feathered friends. Now I see radio-controlled drones equipped with cameras as yet another poor substirute.

Nicely controlled stanzas follow the described form perfectly. The repeated line gives a sense of yearning which suits the theme admirably, and I liked the subtle shift of the theme in each stanza.

Thank you very much kiwisteveh, for a an excellent and detailed review. I am finding that so far, there is no end, it is truly amazing. Yes, flight is the dream, and wings are the best. Glad you like the form and poem.

You took a great picture, and it matches your poem perfectly. I agree, it would be amazing if we could fly. No more traffic jams or taking the wrong road.
Your poem flows beautifully without any hitches. Nice one. :)

That is some picture Tom. This is an interesting form and you did it justice with your subject of wanting to fly. I think we have all thought about that in our lifetime. I have been in airplanes five times in my life and not one of them was a pleasant experience. To fly on my own wings would be the only way I would want to fly. I'm afraid. LOL Nancy

This I a lovely, fettle form that suits your subject so well. I don't suppose the is anyone who has never wished for this a ility. The nearest I ever came was in the front seaT of a Sioux helicopter in 1968 or 9. These machines consisted of a perspex bubble in which you sat with vision in almost every direction and only small piece of perforated steel as a footplate. The engine as behind you. That was the nearest I ever got to being a bird.

You have a piece of unintentional rhyme in S2 which actually runs Aafgf and not Aefgf.

Thank you Pantygynt. That must have been exciting to experience. I noticed that rhyme too but decided to leave it.

Hi,

This was a real joy to read. I love it when authors and poets allow their minds to wonder and then they transcribe those musings. I love the fantasy part of the musing and how it melds with the real life of the dreamer.

This particular line caught my attention:

"Appendages unfurled"

MY mind tells me that appendages is not a poetic term or one that would imply beauty. Yet, you used it perfectly in that application.

This was, indeed, a real nice read! Wishing you the very best ...

Alan

How much more we could do when we could fly. More we could see places we could go. A great photograph. I like this Monchielle poem feels like flying over the words

Evenly sung verses tell of a fantasy dream where poet wishes he/she could fly. Author wants to be free and the adventure and excitement of flying.liberty justice

Like eagles soaring free
So far above the trees,
Across the open sky
To unknown destinies ... beautiful. Oh, me too, Tom. Me too!

Gorgeous pic. I'm fascinated by eagles and have done some research and unearthed pretty incredible facts about these majestic birds.

I find my eyes flying to your author notes to see if I'm going to learn some new form. I'm rarely disappointed. Wonder how you keep doing it!

I wish that I could fly
On gentle painted wings
That butterflies produce
And flutter all about
Like leaves the trees let loose.
My favorite verse
Well penned
God bless
