I thought that this was a well written piece, mermaids. I liked how you wrote about how Christmas is celebrated in other places, even if they may be fictional. A well written piece, thanks for sharing...Jacob

What an interesting capture you describe and bring it from fantasy into the light of reality. Sometime nature can reveal stranger creatures than we will ever be all to imaging.

Nice end rhyming in your couplets.

I'm Dreaming of a White Yeti.
Just like the Big-Foot I used to Know ...."

"Oh me father was the keeper of the Eddie-stone light and he slept with a mermaid one fine night." Google that song and enjoy.

I am familiar with the Eddie-stone light, a great song. Love your Christmas song about the yeti! Thanks so much. Elaine

I so very much love this as I admire all works of art that have to do with the water. I so was fascinated with Mermaids as a child and even now. I love this. It makes the reader feel free.

I just had to stop by :-) I recently stumbled across this pic and discovered the yeti crab myself :-)

I saved the pic - but couldn't for the life of me figure out what to write to it!!

Wonderful take, adding the mermaid world and Christmas.

I really like the idea and the image of a yeti crab, it's definitely original and not something I would have expected for a Christmas poem, but I think it works perfectly, the images are lovely. I think Ariel is jealous that she left the sea behind her. I'll have to check out this yeti crab, thank you for the new information. Great poem. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, very interesting indeed, as I have never heard of the yeti crab; I live nowhere near a coast of any kind, so I'm not well versed in sea creatures.
At any rate...Your poem is SO imaginative!
It was a fun and enjoyable read, made me smile:)

A nice variation on the standard tree and decorations - your simple rhyming couplets tell a sweet little story and also give us a glimpse of a fantasy home beneath the waves.

I have to say I found the second couplet quite confusing at first - you hadn't mentioned the yeti crab before this and yet her husband seems to be laughing off her chances of finding one - the reader can only interpret this from what comes later....

Mermaids, an interesting piece that includes mermaids, Christmas and yeti crabs all in the same story line. I can see why the crab is called a yeti crab with its white and fury body.
The lines of "Benjamin, a fluffy white boy" and "a surprised husband extends a shaking hand" threw me off slightly. I had to read it more than once to realize the crab was called Benjamin. Also, the mention of 'husband' didn't seem to fit in the poem.
Just my observation. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for your observations, this poem needs more work and rhyming is not my strong point. Thanks for a great review. Elaine

Awe, this was a very cute poem. I am glad they were nice mermaids and mermen to include a human in their mergames. (Not being sent away like Rudolf at one point in time.)

I loved it.
