Congratulations on a successful surgery, on the road to walking pain-free. It will happen. My mom had double hip replacement ( one side at a time ) and is back to doing all the things she loves without a grimace of pain. I hope your wife has a speedy recovery!

Best part of this is:

'Although the knee is left so sore,
It's better than it was before, '

and....

'The treatment went without a hitch,
As bone and metal made a switch.
A scar will heal and often itch.
A blessing is the surgeon's stitch
That holds a new-built kneejoint, which
Will "Quality of Life" enrich. '

Yay! That's great to hear, Tom! yay! Awesome news from the homefront!
(((((big hugs to Karen))))) and tell her we thank her for allowing herself to be
a guinea poem. ;)
Hugs all around and well done

Hi, Treischel,
I am glad that Karen's surgery is healing well without complications,
"Switch and Stitch" is excellent. This poem has good rhyme and excellent flow. The imagery is good, sterile air of a hospital. " Surgeon's stitch" " without a hitch"good metaphor and alliteration as well as rhyme.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

Six lines monorhymed is surely quite a challenge. One that you have met here three times, excellently. This being the second poem you have produced on the subject of your wif'e recent operation we can now quite definitely state that these poetic out pourings on the subject cannot be considered a knee-jerk reaction. Ouch!

Most people that I know have done very well with knee-replacement surgery, IF they do their physical therapy. My aunt did not do the PT. She was wheelchair bound the rest of her life. Please make sure Karen goes to PT and exercise's it at home.

Wow--from the picture, in only one week, Karen appears to be healing quickly. I admired your sestets in mono-verse rhyme. I'm so glad to hear that her pain is already reduced and good mobility seems assured. Here's to a better quality of life! -Joan

Very well planned and executed poem. Everything takes patience and time to heal, especially our older race, take a little more care and patience and prayers. At the end it will be worth it, I believe.
