You hear stories of dogs guarding the graves of their masters- what a unique take! I hope that when it is my turn to go, I have a hawk...rather than a raven lol. Excellent poem! Is the hawk Photoshopped on to the obelisk or was your friend one of the fortunate photographers to be at the right place at the right time?

Thank you, ravenblack, for the excellent and amusing review and the excellent rating. I think Dean has reserved the raven, so no worries, you get a falcon or a hawk. He was one of those fortunate ones who happened upon the right moment. But he often walks through that cemetery, a lot of history, art and emotion there. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem of the Hawk. I appreciated your positive and encouraging words very much.

I really liked the strong visual imagery in your writing of the owner's pet standing in his grave, I could feel the emotion tied to it especially when he wouldn't move from the grave. An excellent write, thanks for sharing...Jacob

Hi rspoet. You have written a great poem of unbridled dedication of the Hawk on watch for his master and just how long he would stay there who knows? I enjoyed the composition ans strong words used in this poem and your first stanza set up the rest of the poem. Great image and use of the black and orange colours to compliment the image. A sad but lovely poem. Cheers Christineð???

I am in awe here. Love the tale of the hawk, still guarding his master after he passed on. Your poetic form tells a tale, it is powerful and has a spiritual feel to it. The hawk is a loyal hero. His eyes are sharp, he cannot be deceived, shows how strong this bird is and shows his character. Love the pic, it fits your words.

Beautiful, the grace and guile of the hawk caught in your words. Like the fact it has alighted on the Tom of the austringer (excellent word) to give the poem a cnnention to ponder. Thank you and your anonymous friend for sharing.
Bless you
John

Hi RSP, this is a beautifully written and well structured poem, I am never sure whether this is free verse or blank verse but either way it is a really excellent work that puts me in mind of Greyfriars Bobby.

Graceful and cunning, the hawk. I see them often in the fields waiting for prey. We have tangled before. They know who I am. Good poem. Well penned.

I am afraid I am not too fond of horror or the supernatural, I find it rather scary. Well chosen words and imagery. Sad story,
Faye

I must learn to become a falconer, I would like one to keep guard over me too. What a lovely poem, I like supernatural stories, and this one is really good. A pleasure to read. xsx Sandra
