Serious poetic concept, the hawk guarding his master's remains. I recall reading of loyal dogs who camp by masters graves. Is not the unrhymed iambic pentameter usually announced as blank verse? A truly fine contribution to the book, I'd say.

Thank you, LIJ Red, for the detailed and excellent review and the excellent rating. It is not blank verse because of the repeat line which automatically gives it end rhyme. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem of the Hawk. I appreciated your positive and encouraging words very much. Thank you.

Dear RSPOET,
A good honest and well executed piece of blank verse. Your metre is excellent, which makes the poem easy to read and the subject is an interesting one which does reveal some affinity of yours without nature.

A fine example of blank verse in quatrain form, one has to look closely to see it isn't written in rhyme. The meter is very fluid, the descriptive imagery is excellent, the projected presention is designed nicely, it is also very well crafted, eloquently written language is also very articulate, well done, enjoyable work, blessings, Roy

Rspoet;
- I enjoyed reading your home and I commend you on a very well done rhythmic format of iambic pentameter where there cadence, timing and tempo were also helpful in making your reading clear, fluid and very easy.
- some unintentional rhyming was used in being so each of your rhyming words were contingent to the meaning and concept of each line therefore also helping in making your rhythm flow smoothly. These are some of the near, slant and oblique rhymes: "stare, near and tear".
-good use of enjambment which is the running out of a thought and concept one stanza and line to the next without it syntactical break.
- outstanding pictures were used in chosen there were also relative, complementary and appropriate for your writing.
-near a notable alliterations: "ghost or ghoul", "seek to steal", "seek to slip", "fiend of foul".
- Thank you for sharing and posting and for the entertainment of reading your writing and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.

Great story within verse. Always admired hawks for their intelligence and ability to hunt. Also, admire the fact you wrote this in Iambic pentameter. Wonderfully written. Les

Maybe it's just me... but is that damn bird MOVING? :(
I kept moving down... and then moving up... and that bottom one
kept appearing to have his head in different positions...
(too much wine, you think?)
me? or the bird? ;)

lol
This is awesome, and VERY Poe'ish... Dean is going to LOVE it!
A perfect addition to this wonderful book!
Well done!

Exquisite and solemn! I love how the darkness of the imagery ended on the final note of loyalty beyond death! There's something eerie yet moving about the loyalty of a bird of prey as opposed to that of a dog! I enjoyed the magnificent words that came through almost classical when written in steady meter!

This poem was good. It really explained the hawks intentions and the picture that you chose was really spot on. Overall this is a good poem. I wouldn't change anything.
