I like this a lot. There is something truly majestic about a hawk and you portray that very well here. I can really feel the power behind the bird as it stands watch over its master's grave.

G'day mate. Sorry I haven't been around much but this internet here is like the master lying below dictating my life. This is another beautifully written and presented piece and scary as heck to an old bloke like me. Great job. Cheers Fez

I missed this first time around. I remember seeing it but it coincided with a very busy period and I never got around to reading it properly or reviewing it. So I am here today by virtue of Part 2 that I have just now read and will be reviewing when I have finished here.

This is an excellent poem. It seems pretty good blank verse to me. Now back to Part 2.

Hello again. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem enough to read and review both parts. I plan it to be a trilogy, so the last part will be the finale. Thank you very much for your positive and encouraging comments.

Wow! I just read partII and had to come looking for partI - what a great read this is! Now I can't wait to return to partII again and to write my review. Chilling, and yet somehow so very marvelous - to think this bird is watching over the master in death...loved it!

book Shifting Shadows. Poems of Darkness This is a poem of a hawk and his master. "The Watch" This is a great poem you have created here. I found a lot of power exuding. Flying as high as a Hawk.It also has a clear message. Very well done.

Wow, rs. Excellent idea for a poem into supernatural poetry. The loyalty we receive from animals is the kind we hope to obtain from our family and friends.

The photograph is actually very well composed and developed. I love the tree behind the hawk. He looks quite noble, determined and fierce atop the obelisk.

Excellent use of poetic devices, and all written in fine meter without rhyme.

Exceptional presentation and write all around.

Gloria

This is a really cool piece! I love the idea of a hawk (or is it a falcon in the picture?) watching over his former falconer. Ravens or crows or other eerie birds are usually used in this sort of context so seeing a different bird, especially a bird of prey, being used instead is a nice little switch up from the norm.
Thank you for sharing this delightful piece!

With gratitude and respect,
Your friend and colleague,
Word Doctor Carson Volk

Oh, this really tugged on my heartstrings. I always get emotional when I read about bonds between humans and other species.

You did a wonderful job with the meter which made this a joy to read. Hugs, Lou
