Hi Respa, I think this beautiful poem is more of a sad poem than scary, but that doesn't detract from the tale, the reader is left to make up their own mind and put their own interpretation on why the dark lady roams the night, excellent rhyming, rhythm and flow with good meter throughout.

Thank you so much for the excellent rating and sharing your thoughts. I couldn't do a scary poem if I tried. That is why I came up with the tale of the dark lady. She is the first thing that came to mind. I appreciate you commenting on the reader being left to make up their own mind, and your comments on the technical aspects, as well.

Excellent rhyme and pace to this poem.
I especially like the spirit of the never-endingness
of the plight of this character. This is more of a
sad feeling in this poem than a scary one and I
am refreshed that this can happen in this
category. -Bill

Thank you so much for the excellent rating and sharing your thoughts. I am glad you liked the spirit of the dark lady's plight, and also that you appreciated it for not being scary. This was out of the box for me. I wanted to be a part of Dean's book, but I couldn't be scary if I tried.

A very beautiful and mysterious poem with words that seem to jump off the page. I like how much of the dark lady and her plight are left open to interpretation. It could be that she's enduring some sort of punishment, but perhaps she's also just lost and trying to find her way through an unknown path but just hasn't quite found it yet. Continuing on with her journey could be a story of perseverance, though I also wonder if she might be happier if she simply embraced the beauty of the moonlit night since that seems to be who she is. Either way, a very beautiful and thought provoking poem!

Thank you so much for the exceptional rating, but more than that is the beauty of these comments. It is obvious you put a lot of time and thought into this, and I also find your review quite poetic. I am also glad that you get that "her plight is left open to interpretation."

A dark poem, but not scary, more melancholic and sad. Good descriptions, excellent imagery and rhyming. Excellent visuals. Faye

Hello I know that Dean indeed, will like your story about the dark lady who as you said in this stanza
No one had seen her dark spirit in light
A phantom, a vision, or ghost was she
Nor did they know of the depth of her plight
Would fate ever consent to set her free?

Delightfully dark poem. I love this type of work, it fascinates me. It seems to have so many different meanings distinct to the individual reader.
A perfect addition to the book!
Thank you for sharing, I quite enjoyed this piece.

This is a well written poem, telling a story which has been told for centuries. In Ireland, the mythical woman is the banshee, who is said to "follow" certain families and can be heard wailing when a member of the family dies.

As poetry this is great, but I'm left wondering why and what. Was she jilted, murdered or abused. Why is this lost soul wandering the earth? I'm left with wonder and what legend lies behind her roaming. And in that niggling question, I'm not satisfied. I really think this should be longer to explain because without it, all I have is technical appreciation. It's good, but I'd like more.

Thank you for the excellent rating and sharing your thoughts. In the author notes, I indicated her travails are unknown, and because they have been passed down from generation to generation, as many legends and folklore are, the spirit and soul of figures like the dark lady continue to roam in the darkness because they remain unsettled. I am glad you appreciated the poetry.

Well written poetry and a good presentation to go along with the poem. The lady in the ebony gown is still around today to roam the grounds.

You have written a very good template for the dark lady that shows up in countless urban legends. Here in Chicago, we have Ressurection Mary, a dark lady who lore has it hitches rides home, home being Resurrection cemetery. An excellent addition to the book of shifting shadows.
