I like this a lot. I know that having the right help is crucial for victims of violence, but I think you do an excellent job of pointing out that the ultimate ability to overcome the effects rests with the victim.
I think this is especially insightful:
don't count on someone else to lead
you can't run in their shoes
your problems will have endings
but the endings you must choose
Good rhyme, good rhythm, good treatment of the subject.

What a kind and supportive poem! The first stanza reminded me of how people end up merging with someone else's debilitating pain that might make it impossible to offer quality help. Then, the poem turns around after the validation of pain and starts to encourage the other one to find empowerment within oneself!

There are lots of thoughts about "believe" both religious and non-religious. Belief in one's self has to be there for one to achieve dreams and happiness. This is well rhymed.

This is a great poem to someone who is or has overcome abuse. You lines flow well and make great sense. The artwork is awesome as is your message.
I would change 1 thing. I would not repeat the word [endings] so close together. Perhaps you could say [your problems will conclude but the endings you must choose.

That is a difficult one, overcoming abuse is really hard, the images that remain must be absolutely horrendous, as a father I cannot understand at all the sexual abuse of children, how can you commit someone to a lifetime sentence! Beautifully composed, the imagery is articulately presented, expressive and openly projected, presented in abcb rhyming, and even meter, well done, blessings, Roy
