Well, this offering has all the grisly action that a lot of people find entertaining. Kids can be a pain in the neck, but your solution is a bit grim - except for the reaction to the teepeeing of your area. This is an excellent and funny-when-it -shouldn't-be Halloween delight. Very entertraining read. My granddaughter just read Ten Little Monkeys poem to me, reminding me of your Counting Tricksters.
Happy Halloween!
Blessings too,
Linda

Well, the book itself is sort of a prompt for grisly horror, so I spread it on. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing!

Oh my goodness! Brooke would howl over this, I'm sure. You got the essence of the counting poem and turned it into hillbilly style trick or treating lol! Well done. I'll keep my grandkids away from your place...

I hope she would. Though her poems were mainly for the young, and squeaky clean, she was rather sophisticated herself.
My neighborhood is rural, with gates and long driveways-haven't seen a trick or treater in years. My loss. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

This is a fun poem I hope Brooke and children never see. The methods used to eliminate the trick - or - treaters are ghoulish for Halloween. The only spag is the word "yestreen." Thank you for scaring.

I borrowed the archaic yestreen(Scots) "yesternight" for a hammy poetic effect. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing!

Oh, that's a new word for me. Thanks for the explanation.

Absolutely a wonderful Halloween poem. Perfect flowing rhyme through out the story. Can only say
5 stars to you. The only thing missing was a Halloween
image but it is a great well thought out poem.

Hi Red, this is a wonderfully well written poem based on the old poems that started ten little Injuns, great flow and rhythm, wonderful rhyming and content my friend, very enjoyable poem.

Yes, the Ten Little Injuns were the first work of this type I heard. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing.

This is really a Halloween nursery rhyme in the fashion of Brooke alright, that I don't certainly want my children to read. But you are of course just living up to the requirements of the prompt and making your poem relevant to the pervading theme for the month of November. God bless, thanks for sharing your writing gift to us.

The book calls for horror poetry, hence the violence, which would of course get the "not suitable for all viewers" disclaimer
on TV. I was lucky enough to swap reviews with Adewpearl several times, and admired her mature intelligence. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing.

Sure glad this wasn't to the tune of "100 trick or treaters nailed to the wall!"

Some funny stuff, Red. Can't wait to read your reactions from the strait laced readers, especially the one dressed like a whore.

No shite. Trying to rhyme from one to ten is bad enough. Thanks lots for reading and reviewing.

Heh-heh...well... no one ever claimed trick-o'-treating was completely, one-hundred percent safe. This gruesome little terrifying tarradiddle only goes to prove it.

Nice creepy countdown piece for Halloween, Red. Or perhaps, "pieces", would be a more appropriate word to use in this instance...

Thanks for the appalling addition to Shifting Shadows.

Best wishes
~Dean

Like Elvis would say, "Thank you, Thank y'vera much. " Probably needs a few editing passes, was shot from the hip.

Don't mention it. It was entirely my pleasure.
