Bravo Missy! :)
Your words go perfect with the picture. Makes me think of times back when I missed someone so much, it was torture for me. I went years thinking about this person until it almost drove me crazy. Thank goodness that is out of my system. Love can be wonderful, but it can also be the most painful experience. Thanks for sharing.
Shana :)

Hi justafan, what a great analogy between the waves crashing on the shoreline and the shoreline of your ragged heart. A lovely passionate piece created from this image . I really loved the 2nd last stanza 'your love that was for me ,a sleepy cove , with tides of love lapping gently on the shore' how beautiful. Well crafted words that told of a lost love. So nice to read all these challenge posts . well done Cheers Christineð???

An excellent response to the picture. You've made it your own and taken it into the realm of romance and lost love where you do some of your best writing. I really liked the pruned away style you've shown here. You leave out so many of those 'fluff' words which draw away from the clarity of the message and ultimately the meaning. Great use of metaphor here. I especially enjoyed:
Your love was that for me
a sleepy cove
with tides of love
lapping gently on the shore

I've repackaged the poem in my way to make it even tighter, but it wouldn't matter if your left it as is. Well done on this.
I hear them
the waves crashing on the rocky shore

Sounds
akin to the emotions
you left within me

Pounding unceasingly
making no headway

Tearing at the shoreline
of my ragged heart

Will the tide ever turn?

Will peace ever find me?

Your love was that for me
a sleepy cove
with tides of love
lapping gently on the shore

Return me
to that idyllic place
ease my suffering

I beg you

Oh, you've been where I have been, seen what I have seen, felt what I have felt and this masterful poem speaks directly to the tearing emotions that accompany such a loss... sigh...

Misty, this is how poetry is supposed to be, isn't it? Especially romantic poetry, IMO - full of passion, sorrowful or joyful, desperate longing, overwhelming pleasure. Lovely!

You worked with the emotional layer of the stormy imagery: the passionate low and high tides of a pendulum relationship! Furious feelings ragging the soul. Intense imagery with beautiful presentation!

...........Believe me when I tell you this, Missy. I certainly would if I could.

As for the tide ever turning, well... we can only hope that one day, the moon is aligned with the stars in our eyes, and when the sun peeks o'er the horizon, that we have our sights set on happiness and our head in the clouds.

Is that too much to ask for?

A beautifully written free verse. It is a profusely poignant poetic piece, abundantly replete with vivid imagery.

Excellent...

With admiration & respect

Very nice poem of love lost. The flow was a pleasant read. The only change I would suggest would be a little darker lettering. Thank you for sharing. God bless.

Interesting take on the picture--a love lost, but one the narrator wants to retrieve. The dichotomy of the "cove's" description, at first sadness reflected in the phrase "tearing at the shoreline of my broken heart" contrasted to the happiness felt when the other person was present "tides of love lapping gently on the shore." Poem effectively evokes the emotions of loss and confusion felt by the person left behind and the longing for times past.

Hi, Missy. This is definitely one of your best offerings in poetry. I love your images and the stanza that really caught my eye was this one:

"Your love was that for me
a sleepy cove
with tides of love
lapping gently on the shore" (superb writing)

Bravo! Bob

    I wish I did post every 2 or 3 days...lol.
Perhaps my lil offerings are not up to your level. I will refrain from asking you to extend yourself to my page...You're obviously a very busy man. Your time best spent on those that can afford the front page in FanStory all the time. I wish you all the best.

Missy...that is not true. The site works on the basis of using mermber dollars to post our work....stsands to reason I am going to read the ones that pay something.....anything......above tweo cents which not many people do by the way because they want reviews. I have been more than fair with reviewing your work and will continue to do so. Bob
