Hi, Treischel,
"Striving Upward" is excellent encouragement for the striver. It has a catchy rhythm and unusual rhyme pattern. You are the premier poetry historian of Fan Story. I enjoy your history notes and appreciate the education. You have resurrected another excellent form

Life is an uphill struggle, the trials are sent to form our characters-we must never give up. Excellent message, good use of rhyming. Most enjoyable. faye

This is yet another lovely form which you've introduced that I had never heard of before now, Tom. It's almost senryu-like in it's composition. Yours is particular inspiration and conveys a positive message...never give up, no matter how difficult the struggle may seem.
I really enjoyed this, and I seriously doubt it is as simple as it appears. You just make it look easy, LOL.
Well done!
Always with respect

Thank you Dean, I am delighted that you like it so well. Yes, it is Haiku like.

Love it. I always enjoy nature trails that challenge you. Besides the physical demands there is a mental stamina that is always rewarded by the wondrous views you see along the way.

indeed they are. ;)
Comment from Pantygynt
This is lovely, almost like a motto, a guide to a successful life. Of course our own "lay" as in "The lay of the ancient mariner" has expanded on the form somewhat - if th the old sailor is anything to go by.

Thank you Pantygynt. Later versions broke away from the 5-5-2 format to just be long, long, short. I also had a hard time distinguishing between a Lia and a Virelai. The literature is confusing as different eopke say different things.

The work is lovely and the poetry lesson itself is worth ten stars. I always thank this gifted author for sharing his deep knowledge to help some of less educated to gather new skills! Blessings and thanks! HIs Grayness: Vance

Great poetry and an interesting form. Our whole lives are a uphill battle to grow up, get through school. Then you go through it again with your own children etc. In your notes you say this poem (photo) was taken....
