I love the contrast of the opening verse showing the folly of trusting in what men conceive and your last verse showing that we can trust God's word, the Bible. You're not a brainwashed fool as per your critic!

I appreciate the saltiness of your writing. It is not watered down and is good for the soul. I pity those who scoff, they do not know what they are missing. I am even more impressed after reading about how you wandered in darkness for so many years.
old Satan's nook, (good word, nook, but I like hook also.)

Great poem and excellent author's notes. Full of honesty and reasonable questions and conclusions delivered in a humble manner; a winner all the way. I know a lot of brains that need washing, including my own on a daily basis! Thank God for the "water of the Word" which cleanses away the unavoidable filth of this world so we can have part in Him daily. God bless, brother! Dennis

I'm glad I have a six left for this one, friend. Your writings, to me, have always seemed to be intelligent and humble expressions of your faith - I can't see how anyone could find fault with that. As your refrain states, if faith is a choice, it's a pretty good one that enables folks to live a menaingful, positive life. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds your poems to be uplifting so please, keep on writing and ignore the occasional naysaye who is aping what he or she heard Bill Maher say on TV.

As for the poem itself - very well-written. I love the rhyme scheme - not one you see everyday - the first stanza sets up your premise perfectly. I've always felt that the starting point for faith is humility - the acknowledgement that we don't know everything. Your first stanza makes that point.

Well done - keep 'em coming!

Tha faith holder and the philosopher have nothing to say to each other. The faithful man complains that the philosopher is questioning his belief when what he is doing is questioning the reason for his belief. The philosopher complains that the faithful are never prepared to discuss any alternatives so, as I say they have nothing to say to each other.

I am pleased to see you trying a new rhyme scheme for a change. That's good

God bless you for standing up for the truth, not always easy and it takes a lot of fight for your faith and determination to let nothing pull you down. I like very much where you say "faith is a choose...It gives me peace." To that's enough proof.
The poem is excellent, it has a good flow, fantastic rhyming scheme and good rhythm. It has also a very important message

I really like this statement,
"At least He brings hope, I'd rather labour under that "delusion" than any hopeless one."

Your poem has an excellent rhyme scheme and flows nicely down the page. Through common word choices you reflect a universal appeal and this poem is sure to appeal to the masses. I was paused a bit by the refrain line, but it seems to have worked nicely here. Thank you for sharing.

You dove deeply into a subject that is dear and special to many. Hope you're not referring to science, just to people's personal beliefs. Science only claims to know what it knows, and has no argument with religion. As for what people believe... well I think that leads to more problems than solutions. Look at the Middle East. Isis is deeply religious. They're not bad people at all. Just believe that these are the end days of the world, and they are fulfilling their role. Their God is righteous, and Christians are Satin's children, which is hogwash. I believe in reincarnation, but beyond that I'm not sure. Very thought provoking. Les

I really hope you weren't criticized on this site. Another wonderfully written poem with great rhyme and flow. Everything you have said is true! What other god can save a person's soul - none. Roll away any other tomb or open any grave, the only god that will not be in it is Jesus Christ. I wish people knew how much God truly loves them. It's sad that we think we can run our own lives without Him in it. We are not smart enough to do it.
If your a brainwashed fool, me too, and I stand their with you proudly, Roy! God Bless You for speaking the truth in love.

I can not pass this brilliant poem as it expresses wisdom in the highest. I marvel at some who has no clue or can not recognize, God. To be called a fool for Christ is marrow in the bones.

Received the tapes today and plan to listen to them when all settles to a time I can enjoy. Please know that Mary and I appreciate you and the Father within your ministry.
