Very romantic poem that compliments the picture perfectly.
I tried to press a rose in a book once, but maybe it was still too fresh, it messed up the whole book. Ah well.
Thanks for sharing this romantic post. :)

Thanks Tessa. I wonder if there is an art to it? I guess maybe you have to pre-dry it a little.

What tales will our book of life tell? I remember saving my first rose in a book. I was in junior high and thought I was in love. In reality I had not a clue about love back then. :) What a great entry for the contest with fantastic artwork to boot. I wish you good luck on the contest and your other creative endeavors! Happy writing!

Yes. I remember finding a few of those. Some I could recall and others I was clueless. I wonder if that is still done or even taught by mothers. I wish you the best in the contest.

Thanks stremis53. I remember it too but have not done it in years.

Dried rose provokes memories and memories do not have thorns. Very appropriate that what is good is preserved in the book of life. Best wishes with your entry.

A lovely tanka Leslie. Perfectly constructed in the 5/7/5/7/7 line form. Good enjambment throughout and a lovely message. Lovely picture. A good entry to the contest and I wish you luck. Warm regards Dorothy x

Hi Leslie, this is an excellent entry for this particular competition, your beautiful words wonderfully describe what you are saying without the need for the lovely artwork, I wish you the best of luck in the contest my friend.

This is very romantic, the picture portrays the words beautifully. Nicely presented and nicely worded Tanka. As you say, true love never dies. Best wishes for the contest.
Bless you
John

The "book of life" expression really changed the meaning of this poem. Suddenly the dried rose us the metaphor itself for love not just an image! Clever writing and beautiful poem with great presentation!

How very romantic! As you say, true love never dies - but lovers do eventually get somewhat shrivelled by age, like your rose - especially if they spend too much time with their noses in books! LOL
