Very nice.Like it a lot. Why a pirate, though? Seems to me they are in general not nice people. But that's poetry. Good job, and will look for more. Mark Littleton

Have a friend who sees himself as a pirate... This was for him.
    Thank you, Mark, for this!

...s-I-g-h... SO pleasing. This is pure, serene romance! "You sail through my mind on the breath of my love..." S-I-G-H! "My love, the only treasure you seek. I gaze at the stars, your compass, knowing you are on your way home to me..." This IS the stuff of the most splendid dreams! Beautiful!

I gaze at the stars, your compass,
knowing you are on your way home to me.
Your journey over.

I can see and feel the extent of your desires. You have a beautiful heart Missy

I really liked this poem. Well done. It works because of the highly effective extended metaphor ('pirate', 'treasure', 'compass'). This metaphor of 'pirate of my dreams' not only conveys the image of a particular sort of manhood, but also the speaker's obsession with the man so that she cannot sleep. I wondered if there isn't also a sense of fantasy here?? The use of the word 'dreams' and the fact that tales of pirates is the stuff of storybooks might also suggest that this passion is a fantasy, or an idealised version of the truth, or perhaps a truth distorted by the rose-tinted spectacles of passion. This is also perhaps suggested by the phrase 'tall, dark and mysterious', the stereotypical romantic hero. A thought-provoking poem that's well-written. Great work!!!

That has a certain ethereal feel to the prose, which I guess a poem about a dream lover should.
The image is intriguing though. It appears that it could be on the dark side. So pairing the two in my bind gives it more of a spellbinding magic to the dream reality.

I'm fairly certain there were few things more comforting to a woman waiting for her man at sea during those days of old than to see her man return to her safe and sound.
This poetic poem for lovers says as much yet far more eloquently than I have here in my review.

" I gaze at the stars, your compass,
knowing you are on your way home to me.
Your journey over..."

Beautifully done, a very elegant presentation too, Missy...

This work has reached the exceptional level

AHHHH... to be sure the moon rises and the wind howls
dreaming your touch keeps my heart on the prowl...
tall dark mysterious-a plunder of Love's fate
the winds sail me close-sensations vibrate...
yes, my vision is straight, my heart all so true
my legs feel a weakness just at the thought of being with you...
so I'll gaze the same stars-your magnetic allure
the heat in my loins I'll gladly endure...
save all my energy for one heart I crave
forever my only all the way to the grave.

Well, that's what your words did to me... evoked a scene... made me feel like I had to reply to the call drifting through the winds and across the oceans... a longing, waiting for the return to home... no, not a place, rather that of the feeling of... so yes, you know my heart goes soft for sweet romance... and well, words that allow travel anywhere into that world, just to afford that kind of appreciative longing... yeah, beautiful composed and presented!

With our thoughts we create,
the knowing of destiny,

this is a sweet, romantic poem. I really enjoyed it, it was a nice break from the spooky I have been reading. Don't get me wrong I love the spooky, but sometimes its nice to read a little sweet romance. :)

Yes, you have a special way of filling our hearts and minds with those pleasing lover's thoughts. I just have to remind myself that after their absence and missing them, it won't take more than a few day before I start wishing they were gone, again. HE HE. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Thanks for another fine poem. :-)
