Hubby and I start a new life. A chapter in the book When Blood Collides Collisions with Senior Egos. Wow, and the war is still raging after so many months. I haven't been able to come on FS as often as I liked, business dictates. Another good chapter you have created here, Shari. Well done.

Aha, you're back again, chase. Yes, I've learned to get the hell out a club when egos take over.

Only to post a story. Hope you are keeping well.

Trying to cope with hubby's ever increasing loss of memory. Hard to find time to post and review!

Hahahaha! I don't like clowns, but this one is cute! And it's sad how sometimes family isn't really family...at least that's how it is for me. Love the banter and that you came to FS after all the fiascos. Maybe you and your daughter can fly up here someday? x.

Better yet, you fly to Florida and find a house or farm to buy. This is horse country you know. Glad you liked the clown I invented. :-)

I wish I could Shari. Can't get my family to dislodge. :( If I could work I'd go alone. Isn't it crowded in your area? I need to be away from humans. For the most part. x

It's crowded where I live but it's off a major highway. Get ten miles on the other side and it's all deserted country side.

The community you moved to could have been wonderful, but I guess at a certain age everyone is looking for outlets and no-one seemed to want to let people have their moment to shine.

It is still wonderful. I've just learned to stay away from people and places that give off negative vibes. Thanks for the review. I've been missing your name. :-)

Interesting change of pace for you and Frank, with time on your hands to be filled when you retired. You tried a number of things, and you did many of them together, which made for great camaraderie, especially when you both knew the players.

Working together didn't always work out well. When it comes to theater we have different ideas and I'm always the one to give in for the sake of harmony.

You went for five years without seeing your daughter? I'd go nuts if I saw mine less that twice a year. She and Ben are coming for a week on Wednesday, so I might not be around much.

Those senior places sure have a lot of activities to choose from. Too bad jerks spoil it most of the time. Sounds like high school... some people never grow up. :)

Lucky you. I do see my son and his family about six times a year. Nichole would love for us to fly out to visit her, but Frank is too frail these days to handle a crammed airport and he dislikes her husband so much, that he lets his venom eat him up. What a shame.

I really enjoyed this chapter, Shari. Having joined a writer's group in January, and left in February, I know exactly what you mean. Too many egos to keep inflated, and jealousy abounding! When anyone criticizes me here, I'd like to think I take it in the chin, but when someone (aged 34) states that they can't see anyone being interested in three women in their fifties 'Talking Dirty' you know you're wasting your time!

Well done you for trying all those different activities after you retired. You and Frank are obviously a solid team, and your support of each other in each one was a tenement to that.

At 34, 50 sounds so old! What she says may be true in California tho. My daughter who looks a young 45 says the only men who would date her would be in the 70 range. They all want young chicks.
Thanks for the exceptional rating. I tried my hand at a lot of other things not mentioned. But I went the route of Bingo or card games. Not my thing.

Shari, I really enjoyed reading about the different clubs and activities you joined with your move. Loved your clown photo, too. It's too bad you couldn't have confronted the unfairness of the theatre divas and get more of your scripts into production. So, you still do the karaoke? A couple of nites to look over...

Now (I need to)replace them.

I'm going to raise the bar!" ( what did they mean? If it was a new member, how did they know about the plays you wrote and Frank directed?)

Another new resident(,Adrian, ... Should introduce his name earlier so the reader knows who Adrian is) joined who challenged Frank's ability to run the show, something Adrian had done for years in the Poconos.

Frank: Did you save that nasty note Jan sent you when you spoke up about the unethical practice of casting someone who didn't even try out.(?)

known as Fan Story.(FanStory)

Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Thanks, Karyn. I think I ironed out the nits. I could have worked with the drama club, but Frank was too bent out of shape. It would have felt like a betrayal!
I love singing songs that I feel, and get so many compliments from old and new in karaoke. I used to practice an hour a day, but Frank was out of the house doing his mentor work at the high school. I don't like to practice now because he sits and watches me. How can he stand hearing me sing the same song ten times to get it perfect!

Hi Shari, I love when you mention metaphysical philosophy or allude to it in your writings.

Wow - I can't believe all those wonderful activities. Also, surprised to read Frank directed your plays.

Haha - every group had conflicts except the metaphysical one. Says a lot.

Really a lot of interesting info in this chapter, Shari. Hugs, Lou

Thanks for the pat on the back. I didn't mention a lot of other things such as tap dancing-- boy, was I lousy at that!

How funny. I never would have guessed the "old folks" had that much ego collectively or individually.

I really enjoyed this. I apologize, though, in the lateness getting this critted. I had a ton of yard work to do in 100 degree heat and finished by sleeping the rest of the day through.

He quit. A year later, so did me. [Me? ]

Hey, you do that yard word by moonlight while listening to owls.
Stupid review key cited "I" as an error and I clicked "change" before thinking about it. Duh!

Cute clown you!!!
You have really traveled down a retiree road. I admire that you have tried so many things. Variety is good.
But through it all... writing has been your core. And a good one at that. I enjoyed this story as I do all of your post.
Thanks for sharing,
:-) Carolyn

Thanks, Carolyn, for the comment on me as a clown. I always come back to writing so I know that's my core as you put it.
