This is a very good entry into the contest I am not perfect. I can resonate with your flaw too. You have written your poem with rhyme and I love the humour. A good contender. Good luck Mary

Excellent job in the penning of this poem I am sure I will not forget or maybe I will. I am in the same situation, I forget my children names and always say old well you know who you are. A poem written with much clarity, excellent rhyming and meter and a very smooth flow giving the reader a most enjoyable and easy read. I have read most of the entries, there are some very good ones and this is one of them. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings......................Portia

G'day mate :)

I think you were not supposed to tell your name because it is a blind contest. The poem is well written. I like the rhythm and the rhyme. Good job!

This poem really resonates with me because I have so much in my brain that I can never remember anything either unless I put it in my organizer (or iphone). It reminds you as well that "forgetfulness" or "bad memory" is indiscriminate of age and it is actually quite a common or normal phenomenon. Thanks for sharing.

I think the glasses, keys scenarios we all experience a lot, we have busy lives and it is difficult to remember to put all the right things in the right place at the right time! Good touch of humour, excellent rhyming and well described elements of your imperfections. Most enjoyable and good luck in the contest. Faye

I have a feeling it will only get worse with age, I know mine has. This a great poem, very funny and real. We've all been there and continue to be.

notes:

For [I]cannot read and get quite mad

- To be consistent, you added the 'I' in other places.

I can relate to this so well. At my age we call it having a seniors moment. I remember once walking around in the dark looking for the torch, guess what I used to light my way! fortunately for you your people are aware of this trait and make allowances. The Diary is a good idea, try putting notes up at eye level on the fridge or the dressing table mirror, or other convenient places , that does help, as I have found. This piece is good for a poke at one's self in fun. It has an appeal that I respond to. cheers Cass

Memory should be a human multiple choice option. I too have several or your quirks, but how is it we NEVER forget what someone does to us, the indignities and the time place and moment it happened?

Great poem, and trust me, I understand.

There's an undertone of frustration running quietly in the background that makes this poem poignant. We all have lapses, now and then, but this relentlessness seems to have pushed past endearing idiosyncrasy into occasionally regrettable. I think that is the power of this poem. . .the way it walks lightly with self- deprecating humor, but hints at human frailty being an unwelcome burden at times.

Nicely done :-)

Thank you Leineco for your review and comments. I seem to have had a bad short term memory all my life, just a bisy mind I guess. Like my poetry I can write it but can't recite it, unless I 'learn it' lol. however I have been in stage plays with amateur theatre and can remeber my lines and songs etc. and I always remember birthdays etc. but times my short term memory lets me down so I have strategies to remember now mostly they work. so appreciate your critique and Cheers
