Very profound words and so true. We set our standards all in good faith and then life creates situations to break them. Would you change your words ask. No I think not each step was important to you

this is a fine poem
with two rhymed words in each stanza
If you drop the 'I have in stanza one,
it would eight syllables (tetrameter) in each line
I would try to re-write the second stanza to have the same meter
And your poem will flow a little better
Good job

but I crossed it several times, I have
