It was such a tragedy. I personally know two people who were in the Twin Towers that day. They got out alive, though suffered some burns. A lot of their co-workers we not so lucky. It is hard not to remember when it is so close to home.

An excellent 5-7-5 to mark the day.

Thank you, debi. Although I didn't know anyone personally he died (thank God), my girlfriend's hubby was a fire captain. Horrible thing. I wanted to honor the anniversary, but wanted to keep it simple--so I appreciate your review. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn

A graphic image which brings back all the horror of that fateful day. We must never forget such atrocity ... we must always remember those innocents, loved and lost, and those who lost their lives in trying to help others. There were Australians in that building, even if not, the entire peace-loving word held the US in our hearts that day. For that day, at least, we were all one, united in our horror and grief. The 'a' and 'e' assonance rang out loud, I almost read this with church bells ringing all over the world. You have covered an event, a time-line, and the stories behind it all in a mere three lines. A superb effort.

Your poem is full of emotion and heartbreak, yet also a positive light. This is what makes it so special. A beautiful tribute in remembrance. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

What a timely tribute and terribly scary picture! I admired your exhortation in the final line of this tiny but powerful poem. I hope your weekend is peaceful- Joan

Fourteen years ago people were going about their business totally unaware of the dreadful tragedy that was about to befall them. Let us take a moment to remember in our prayers these people and the loved ones left behind.

Lovely message, Marilyn, as a tribute to all those who died in that terrible tragedy. Well chosen words and horrifyingly fitting image of that tragedy. Faye

Perfect 5-7-5 poem tribute
for all those who lose their lives
or suffered injuries and
For all the families, friends, and co-workers
who still deal with the loses
The only change I would suggest
is a picture of the new tower
rising in hope for the future
Perfect poem

Yes, yes, yes! I wish it was just like any other day, another date: but it never will be! I remember the disbelief and the shock... Thank you for the reminder and the beautiful words!

This is a very nice 5-7-5 and what a wonderful way to pay tribute on this historical day in our America. I liked the simplicity of your words but the strength of your message.
