Love it! I like the flow and feel of the poem and I connect with the message, as I am sure most people will! I think this sort of rallying cry is said by most people in their private struggles and facing that nasty demon of confusion. Thanks for the poem! Beautiful

This work has reached the exceptional level

The objective correlative of the poem epitomises the primacy of making the best use of the moment.

The work highlights how such a progressive disposition could bring about the best of innovations and resultant contentment.

The work constitutes a significant commentary on the importance of making hay while the sun shines.

Outstanding work! Bravo!

I very much enjoy & subscribe to your message. After battling depression all my life, I've become an expert at starting each day with the intention of being upbeat. It doesn't come naturally for some of us. If that's the case, we may have to make this decision every morning. I like that you are helping others steeped in "bleak" to find another way to approach the moment. Your poem is well written & the alliteration in the first line is off the charts.

You're absolutely right, gudbjorg. Why face the day at all if you're going to go through your entire day being grouchy, grumpy, and mean-spirited?
Greet everyone you meet with a smile and the light shines through.
Treat those you encounter along your day's journey with caring, compassion, and kindness.
Most importantly of all, let those in your life whom you cherish know beyond a doubt that you do, and do so every day.
After all, none of us are guaranteed a tomorrow. And even then, sometimes tomorrow is too late.

A very well thought out and expressed work. Some rhymes, just reading the last words of each line, don't initially seem to be a good choice. But when read in context with the verses they end, become very good choices - a sign of a good poetic mind. The only debit, in my opinion, is that lines that are over 10 syllables long, (yours are 13-16) tend to test a reader to keep a beat going. This can be helped with the use of more commas to divide the long lines into two separate, relatively equal lines.

You employed this a few times...

"What more is there to be desired than life in happiness,
The World is still around you, but your spirit is clear and fresh.
Don't let this blessed moment pass your way, My dear,
for there are wondrous riches in the silence of a prayer!"

Here, the second verse, which is 15 syllables long, is evenly divided into 7 and 8 syllables by the comma. It makes it impossible not to keep the rhythm. Such a use of an additional comma would have kept the beat in all of the other lines, thus...

"What more is there to be desired(,) than life in happiness,
The World is still around you, but your spirit is clear and fresh.
Don't let this blessed moment(,) pass your way, My dear,
for there are wondrous riches(,) in the silence of a prayer!"

These are, of course, just my personal opinion. As the poet, feel free to accept or dismiss anything I have suggested. Thanks for a very good poem.

Hi,

What a lovely and poignant poem you have penned here. In today's society where we are offen tore down, it becomes difficult at best to have that smile. Words we should all strive for. God bless

Thank you so much for these encouraging words. I felt I needed to share this one if it could be of any help. A beautiful smile brightens the day and we never know how far it will go or how long it will be remembered.

I feel the same way about writing poetry. It certainly clears the mind of things we seem to accumulate. Iceland, reading National Geographic it sounds like a fascinating place to visit. Me ex-wife was a horse woman involved in show jumping (not too seriously). I am a retired Oceanographer and love the sea around Nova Scotia and British Columbia.

Very spiritual poem with many Christian references (life a vapor, and others). I like this a lot. It conveys passion, warmth, friendship. I think it could be published. You should seek that. Mark Littleton
