Hi, Clockwise! Thanks for posting this lovely tribute to Cohen.
I love the visual--a Star of David composed of hearts, which seems to capture the essence of Cohen, his commitment to Israel and his big heart.
The meter, rhyme, and imagery of this poem is remarkable. "Beautiful Losers" and "nicotine voice" stand out for me, specifically, this paradox of beauty in the flawed.
"Beautiful Losers" also, to me, somehow connects to the Jewish people, given the underdog/"loser" status Jews have historically had, yet still producing a culture and religion that has been so universally compelling.
I have no real constructive criticism here, which I usually offer. There are just some things that I don't immediately understand so require thought for a few days, such as "nascently singing," but this true of good poetry.
Thank you again for posting.
All the Best,
Stacia

Wonderful! I've had that song going round my brain ever since I was told of his death. What a great man he was, and what a legacy he has left us. Your tribute in this acrostic, is perfect, you have used his name well. Good luck in the contest! :) Sandra xx

Great ode to a legendary song writer. I am not overly familiar with Cohen (different generation) but certainly am familiar with the far reaching effects of his life and work! Well done.

A very impressive photo. Captures the man's character very well. The poem is well-written . the words flow nicely from one line to the next combining and forming the message of the poem for the reader. Very well done.

Hello author. Excellent acrostic honoring the master. I liked these lines in particular:
"Our prophet and guru grand master of words,
Harkens The Future when blue hummingbirds,
Extol the virtues of kinship and calm,"
Bravo! Bob

Great tribute. His voice carried both hope and lament. Poet turned singer when thought the fact that even published in younger days thought the immortality of name with 400 books sold still could not pay the bills and struggled. He then went to song and found fame and success with thee song, 'Hallelujah,' his most remembered, covered hundreds of times though there will be as song for each person as much worth.
He was forced to go back on the road and tour again later in life as was ripped off by his then manager.
A former partner died not so long ago in which he was reported, in writing, saying with sadness and compassion that he too was dying and if she reached out her hand she would be able to touch his.
Lovely tribute, author.
My best wishes.

This is a well written heartfelt ode to your favorite songwriter. He has created many songs, I love Hallelujah. It is always sad when an artist or anyone dies.
