Beautiful! And I love you color choices as well!
I'm not sure I've seen this color variety of geraniums
But I think they are gorgeous and you are doing them a fine ode in this lovely rondel!
Well done Tom

Thank you Cat. I found out from several reviewers that they are Petunias. Lol.

lol... well, they DO look more like petunia's... but I truly have no green thumb, so I didn't want to say. ;)

Your love of flowers, plants, trees and nature is evident in your poems. Here is another one of sheer adoration of this lovely flower, mixed with your romantic streak of the "lovers who walk together arm-in-arm." Well done, Tom.

I don't like to guess how many forms of Sonnets you know. Lovely photo complements your poem perfectly. The sidewalk looks very nice with all the flowers.

That is really lovely, Tom. You are right, there are too many bland and uninteresting sidewalks, and just a few brightly planted pots can make all the difference. You should send a copy of your lovely poem to whoever those planters belong to. :) Sandra

Really? They look like petunias.
It doesn't matter for they have been very nicely
described in this impressive Rondel Prime Sonnet.
I couldn't begin to attempt this at the moment.
Nature does provide such lovely subjects.

Thank you Shirley. I have now confirmed that they are indeed Petunias. So much for my flower identification skills. Appreciate the stars you awarded, even though i failed botany.

Tom, I don't think they are gerainiums. The-bi coloued ones look like sweet williams to me and the light blue, petunias - I think, but I am no botanist. This is sweet stuff, appropriate enough if I am right about the flowers, although the sweet william is known as the stinking billy in Scotland because it was named after William, Duke of Cumberland, also known as Butcher Cumberland, an English commander in the Jacobite rebellion.

I like the way you exploit the printer's rhyme as a "B" rhyme enabling norm as a "b" in the next stanza. Some might call that cheating but my view is that it's no more than one gets from a clever politician and you wouldn't call them cheats now... or would you?

Whatever your answer to that one, I like it here.

Thank you Pantygynt. Yes indeed, the concensus is that they are petunias. My own flower identifier failed me, but you astute reviewers have brought enlightenment. Great info about the Stinking Billy. As to cheating, who me? Just a touch of slant rhyme. I agonized, but decided it worked.

I liked the way the potted flower shape echoed the roundness of your sonnet form. Thank you for your notes on its long history. I enjoyed your rhymes and repeats and agree with you about the "touch of charm" lent to a plain sidewalk by such an addition. Smiles- Joan

This is strong. You're right about the concrete. You illustrated that well in your poem before I even read your notes. A splash of color can make all the difference.

Man these forms of yours! Where do you find them or read of them? So great. Perfect form. I just had to do a villanelle. Iambic is So hard. You're a master man. Great piece.

An unembellished concrete is the norm.
That's such a great line and true

Thank you Gregory. I started here in Poetry Dances, but found Wikipedia a great source about any poem. Then i found a site called Every Sonnet, and that's what I'm currently working through. Poetry Soup, and the Poet's Garret are also great resources.

An ordinary sidewalk becomes a lovely charming place to be with lots of charm. Thanks for the history and explanation of the poem form. The photo doesn't show with the poem but I believe it will be exquisite.

I applaud those of you who have the discipline to write a Rondel Prime Sonnet! It fits the subject matter perfectly and feels pretty warm and fuzzy. Nothing wrong with words that evoke comfort and joy. Cheers!
