This is a wonderful poem and a fitting tribute to the ashes of your mother in law that are strewn there to commemorate and bless her life near the tower and lake. A bit like my mother whose ashes were thrown in the Indian ocean near the island where we were born---Mauritius. Well done, Tom.

The mystery deepens with these 5 liners. Earlier to day you were calling them quintains. Now they are quintrains and quintets. Whatever the damn things are called this is a lovely companion to the earlier poem about the lake and your mother-in-law's ashes.

If you google quintain and quintrain you get some interesting results:

Quintain - (1) a device for training knights in the art of jousting [this I knew].
Quintain - (2) a five line stanza in poetry [as you said earlier].
Quintrain - a five line stanza in poetry [my favourite because it follows quatrain logically with the "R"]
Quintet - a group of 5 musicians [this I knew too and it is the only one this spell checker recognizes].

What is your considered opinion [having used all three. lol]?

I think they are all OK, but I like Quintrain as a mate to Quatrain.

Excellent photo that complements your poem perfectly. Unless you wrote it, I would not have recognised a water tower. A Roserian Sonnet.
Your wife's family was raised around here. And you buried her mother's ashes in this lake.

Thank you for the notes on a Roserian Sonnet. I re-read the sonnet and could see the peek-a-boo rhyme which initially I didn't understand.
This is a beautiful poem about your wife's favorite place. There is a true depth of feeling expressed as you reminisce while looking at a place with so many memories.

I'm delighted with this smooth poem which is a follow up to the one posted earlier on similar theme. This is in fulfilment of your promise, right!. Nicely done, rendered smoothly.

What an elegant building for a water tower, and thank for revealing the connection to General Mills and your wife's childhood home and the special Lake! Remarkably, you have set the description in another sonnet form. Your rhythm and rhymes plus the final line are quite evocative. More cheers- Joan

So glad that I have a six for you! Treischel, you have soooooo much talent. Thanks for telling us how you wrote these amazing poems. I like the interesting rhymes.

Ok, I was an Uptown Gal. I lived on 28th and Lake Shore of Lake of the Isles. Yes, this was the home of the Fingerhut son who owned the art gallery at Galleria. This is how we met and I lived upstairs in the apartment. It once was just the closet of the wealthy owner, now an apartment for two.

I used to bike around Harriet, Calhoun and Lake of the Isles for 10-14 miles for the three. I would go to the rose garden, the outdoor music and the running water. I loved the bakery nearby. Had friends that had homes overlooking Harriet but I was on Isles. Amazing areas and so close to downtown. These lakes had their own personalities.

I am sure that your family will treasure your seasons spent together on the lakes.
We live near Spirit Lake, Iowa. So we run down here for summer fun. This is highway 90 and 71 where we live in Jackson, MN. Spirit Lake and Okoboji are south of us. God bless your precious memories. Great poem! flylikeaneagle

Thank you very much flylikeaneagle. Whenever I have guests from out of town, I give them a tour that includes those Lakes. Lake of the Isles is one of my favorites. I also used to run a canoe trip from Thomas beach through the 4 connected lakes - Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, Cedar, and Browne,.
