This is a beautiful poem. It would be a lovely one read with music background. All so true and I relate. I particularly loved these lines...

"My eyes grow dim not so my sight...This fire within cannot be quenched"

A neat way of referring to the verses in the Gospel of Mark. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is very good imagery.

Just lovely Mr. Roy....I do believe age becomes all of us if we don't fight it. I like your message here, better to keep your soul, yours for eternity, than things, yours for a time....blessings.

Nice rhyming. I like the stanzas, you have been doing these types for sometime now and I had hoped you might try different stanzas. Either 5,7,5 or different rhyme but always a pleasure to read your work.
I noticed you changed your picture 6 times. Indecisive are we? lol

The poem has many beautiful sentiments, and gives the feeling of a life well-lived. There are a few things I suggest.
1) I would eliminate one reference to the soul. I believe you refer to it three times. Maybe in verse 2 you could say "...feeds my being. I'm aglow." or "feeds my spirit. I'm aglow".
2) Verse 3: the meaning of "that maze of truth" seems unclear. Maybe change to "that search for truth."
3) Verse 3: "content" is used in verse 1 and 3. First, I don't know if hope can be content...??? Perhaps you could use "life's content" in verse 3, and rephrase verse 1 so that line 4 follows the thought of line three. Something like:
The path ahead draws near my goal
To be complete, as is my soul.
Repositioning words is one way to fix rhythm and ideas, so play around with substituting words, changing the order, and watch for repetition. I've found that there's usually another way, and often a better way, to get the message across.
Good job. Keep at it.

Yeah Roy... a strong and wonderful imparting message... life is full of journey to get the whole picture to what or who we think we are, or should be... you, my friend have wisdom coming from your pores and you have written it here in this fine poem so eloquently.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your contentedness as age becomes you and so does your magical insight to self... yes, a true pleasure Sir!

With our thoughts we create,
the negotiation of time,
James.

Wonderful poem, royowen. I love the line "To gain this world but lose my soul". Love truly is all that matters, though we are tempted to find too much meaning in what's material.

The last line is absolute truth. Your poem was such a pleasure to read. The flow was very smooth due to the flawless rhythm and rhyme. But it is the message found in your words that make it such a worthwhile, pleasant read. This has to have a six star rating. Blessings to you, Linda
