Excellent piece Dennis. I appreciate your insight and information you share in your writings. Your last comment really hit home. Each person must choose:
True believers can choose which praise means the most to them...God's or men's?

Blessings

You are right about the paradox. And humble, believing Christians will from time to time be praised for their piety and good works, even their peaceful natures. Given that we a creatures of God, his creation, maybe, there are some aspects of our person that are praiseworthy. Perhaps, as you say:True believers can choose which praise means the most to them...God's or men's? Your examples from scripture show God will hold up what is pleasing to him, not for personal aggrandisement, but as example of how we can be. Well structured, researched and argued piece.

Thank you, God indeed is a loving, instructive Father to every born-again Christian. We having by faith received a new nature, made in the image of Christ, we are made fully acceptable to God forever. Our old sinful self was nailed to the cross with Jesus. And in God's view, we rose with Christ from the grave. We are even now a Heavenly people...growing into spiritual maturity through God's Word of grace. God bless you, Dennis

Thank you very much for your kind words. The bible is an inexhaustible source of stimulating truth as you know and we all need to study the lives of those whose experiences are written down for our admonition and strengthening. I'm really not trying to preach at you so much as repeating a wonderful truth we both know to be true. God bless, Dennis

I couldn't agree with you more, Dennis. I minister to elderly shut-ins sometimes in some of the nursing homes I volunteer my time in. I'm part of a program called "Adopt a Son or Daughter" which is sponsored through my church and other area churches. We simply go in and talk to the elderly in nursing homes who have no one that visits them on a regular basis, and many want me to read to them from the Bible. When we get into conversations about whatever scripture they had me read, I receive more blessing form it than they do most likely, lol.

You are also right, we should never judge others. It isn't our responsibility to do so. God has seen fit to take that particular burden upon Himself.

I don't feel right about espousing my personal; religious beliefs on FanStory. I'm just not comfortable doing that myself. I feel it is up to each and every individual to seek enlightenment and fulfillment as the deem fit, so far be it for me to "preach" to anyone. Now if someone asks, I'll proudly proclaim my beliefs in Christ, the cross, and my salvation, but not before. I'm just not worthy enough to tell others how they should live or believe.

Great writing here, Dennis, and Job is my favorite chapter in all of the Bible, next to the Book of Revelations.

All my best, and God bless.

Thanks Dean, I appreciate your thoughtful comments. Sounds like a good ministry you are involved in with the elderly. As to being worthy enough to preach or share, no one is as you know. Grace is all about God making the unworthy worthy in His sight through Christ. Since we are commanded to speak for Him, I see no viable option. I have been gratified, after a flurry of initial opposition, to find those on FS who appreciate them. I found opportunity to talk further about Christ with many. Even some who remain adamantly opposed to what I teach (in some cases at least) remain friends and accept no necessarily what I'm trying to say , but at least my sincerity in doing so. God bless you and thanks again, Dennis

Point well taken about Job. He went through hard times and did not give up on God which confirms what Yeshuah said, "those who endure to the end will be saved."
He did give Job praise.
Piece well written.

"It's all God" can quite easily be taken as a claim to infallibility... so there you are back at square one... "stealing" glory from God!"

This makes so much sense. I notice it quite a lot with my Christian friends and know that I struggle with this as well. I appreciate your insights so freely shared here and in such a cogent manner. Well done, Deniz.

Thank you, Bey, for your thoughtful reply. The Devil tries to twist everything the Lord says and would be quite happy if we remain stifled by an unsound "humility" which keeps us from acknowledging Christ to a world that desperately needs to know Him. Grace has made us who were unworthy, now worthy in God's sight through Christ. We are now sons/daughters of the living God, new creatures in Christ. Rejoicing in this free salvation is not in conflict with the true humility engendered by our new life. Blessings, Dennis

Your title tag expresses what Jesus did - answered the tricky questions with scripture from the OT. That is not to say the questions were tricky to his ability, but the intent in asking was trickery. For this motivation in writing, I give you a six.
As I go on, I read such a sound teaching and hear how Jesus praised Job. You went on to quote where we will be praised in the hereafter. Interesting that we will be praised of God - that is a fact and one that warms my heart.

This has made me think about how we can look at things we make in the natural world and admire how they have turned out.
Oh, for the praise of my precious Lord. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

There is some extraneous text of AA~S~AA~ in your author's notes. I am told that sometimes these appear when you are working and writing from your telephone. God Bless.

Thank you, Janet, your comments are encouraging. There's a false "humility" promoted by the Devil which will keep us from fully claiming right now our new position in Christ as born-again new creatures. As we rejoice in the free salvation Christ has secured for us, true humility is possible. This is helpful in serving our King. God bless, Dennis

A very thought provoking post. Better yet for me, as I skipped church today, something I rarely do. Your sermon was good for me. Loved John 12:42. Timely even today. Bill

Well written sermon containing so much truth. As I always like to say you can sum life up in this statement: "Cast your vote for Jesus. Keep your eyes on Calvary".
