I sat on my principal once and almost got expelled in the process. It wasn't pretty.

However, our principles are another thing entirely, and sometimes we can't sit idly by while allowing things we disagree with to happen. Sometimes we must stand up, let our voices be heard, and speak out for what we believe in.

Well done, Lois. An excellent entry for the Antonym Poetry contest.
Good luck to you! ~Dean ;}

The first time is a gem. Few words but a great message. We all must stand up, once in awhile, for what we believe in. Otherwise, our beliefs have no value. I wish you the best in the contest. Great work!

Nice metaphor in "sit" meaning inaction and an unwillingness to support your beliefs until you're forced to take a stand. Sometimes it may mean being unpopular. Very thought provoking. Les

These four lines tell the importance of acting and not staying quiet. It says you get to a point when things have to be done.

Good luck in the contest.

I like this antonym poem - it tackles and important principle - when to sit and when conscience forces you to stand on your principles. Good luck in the contest.

Hi Loanna Lois..Interesting attempt at writing antonymic poetry. You definintely nailed it with a powerful message. That message to me is someone having principles is principled because they don't push anything on anyone, but as soon as someone really crosses the line, that's when the person stands up for what is right. Not plenty of that going around these days is there? Take care and cheers.

Excellent! Your little antonym has a big message. Words to live by, I would say. If we have no principles then we are doomed to forever sit on the sidelines. Marilyn/BeasPeas

This is an excellent entry. Clever choice of opposites--sit and stand. Thought-provoking as well. Good use of alliteration with sit and stand; assonance with sit and principles.

Hi Loanna
You have written an antonym poem that has great meaning. We are often put into a situation when we no longer can do nothing, but stand up and be heard.

Well done and good luck in the contest. Mary,
Yes a six for this philosophical antonym.
