Hi Dean, this is turning into one hell of a collection, every story I have read in this series has been superbly written with a wonderful gory tale to tell.
They remind me of Roald Dahls 'Tales of the Unexpected. for that is indeed what they are my friend.

    Yes, they are a bit reminiscent of Dahl's Tales, Eric. I'd never really made the correlation until you mentioned it.
    Thanks very mcuh for your review, my friend. As always, I sure do appreciate it!

Hi Dean,

Dump luck, or just finally time to pay for the price for admission to the show, hee, hee...only heaven knows!

This was a great little story giving us our own voyeured view into the world of a peeping-tom.

Loved the way this write unfolded with such a natural sounding thought process...made perfect sense all the way through.

I appreciated the solid ending, also, with its "Ah-ha" moment :)

Another great chapter for the book, DeanO!
Bill

You know, one of these days I'll get it together and post that little diddy I wrote awhile back.
I'm a bit time challenged these days because I've found a good place to find gold on the river and I'm spending our hot summer days (95 degrees) by the water, lol.
Gotta' make hay while the sun shines!

    Thank you, Bill, and I appreciate you taking time away fro your panning for gold to read and review this for me. Heck, if I was onto the motherlode, do you think for one second that I'd be reviewing stuff here, on FanSttory? You gotta be kidding, heh-heh!

    Take care, buddy, and good luck!

    Hey Dean,
    Sadly, my aging body will not let me pursue my passion for very many hours.
    Before I can get to the fun part of mining; the slucing and panning; I have to spend hours removing the large rocks and boulders from the area I wish to work. That requires prying them loose with a five foot steel bar,(or long-bar), and rolling or rigging them with chains and a hand-wench to clear an area. Unfortunately, the tighter the ground, the harder the work...and the tighter the ground, the better gold! (now doesn't that just figure, lol).
    Anyway, I try to spend my mornings on the back deck, writing and reviewing and save the mining for the warm part of the day.
    We are in a heat-wave these days with temps hitting 108 a few hours away in the low-lands.
    Even at our elevation of around 3,000' we are hitting the high 90's...

    "Take me to the river
    and drop me in the water..." :)

    Later, buddy,
    Bill

    Geeze oh Pete's--108 degrees!? And I thought 81 was hot, LOL!

    It's done nothing but rain here, Bill, for the last four days, in fact. My yard looks like the bad bush of 'Nam. I'll have to make sure I go out to check my Constantina wire. Charlie's pretty crafty, you know?

    Heh-heh... ~Dean :}

    You bet, Dean, and don't let down your guard, either, while Charlie's slinking low in the yard, haha...and check those perimeters!
    Boy, some rain would be nice, but only in well metered doses!
    Stay dry, my friend...

I'd review far more of your postings than I currently do if only we were allowed a more generous offering of six-star rating than we are. Everything you write is gold, be it a hundred words or a a hundred thousand. Your well never runnith dry, sir, and for that I have the utmost of envy. The nightmares that must entertain you on any given day... I loath to imagine, and am green with envy at the same time.

This was so fun. So much fun! No matter what your restrictions, no matter what you have to work with, you always tell a fucking rip-roar of a story.

You've got your reputation on this site for good reason.

Loved this.

:)

    Thanks so much, Sara. I'm flattered that a fellow horror aficionado, and one who writes such excellent horror fiction herself, felt compelled to honor me with such thoughtful words of praise, as well as the six star rating.

    I very much appreciate that, my friend, and I hope that someday, you too will contribute your own Tiny Tale of Terror to our book.

    Much appreciated! ~Dean :}

I'm sure glad I became a fan of yours, Dean, as I enjoy a touch of horror now and then. This one doesn't only meet that criterion, but it also includes humor as well. I like how you use some "folksy" (I don't know if that's really the word I'm looking for) dialogue on the part of the narrator--makes it seem more real. Nice little surprise for the reader at the end.

Oh my, Dean, I would definitely jump out of my skin if someone knocked at my door while reading this ending. Great job building the suspense in a short tale, enticing us with popcorn, and then Bam!
Love it when the Peeper becomes the next side show. I wonder if anyone will get to watch his demise. 8-)

It's always more entertaining when it happens to someone else, or least we are able to watch more than once. But the thrill of being the hunted goes back to hide and seek as a kid or the excitement of catching them alone, leaving nothing but screams for the others hiding. Huh, I'm a little strange too. Great job. :-)

Wow - Now that's entertainment. Loved this delicious little narrative, Dean. I see that taking a little break hasn't dulled your skill at the macabre. I think this one makes The Dean's List of my all-time favourites from you. Rose.

    Thanks, Rose, I appreciate that very much. I wrote a great deal while I was in the hospital. Probably more than I normally do, in fact. I read a little of the latest Stephen King novel, Mr. Mercedes (which I highly recommend, by the way), and watched a little morning news to keep up with current events. But mostly, I wrote.
    Thanks for taking the time to review this story. As always, I do value your opinions quite highly. ~Dean :}

    I did a fair amount of reading in the hospital too. James Patterson, Brad Thor, and a few others. I like The Unit type stuff - especially when saving the world is involved. I did a fair amount of writing too, but nothing I want to post - at least not yet. Keep getting well, m'dear. Love ya. Rose.

I think I'll pass on the popcorn from now on. And your character is getting (or will be getting) what he really deserves. As for your writing, it's scarily perfect, as always. Evi

    Thanks for the sixer, Evi, and even more than that, for caring enough to take the time to read it and offer your opinions on the story. That means more to me than anything else. Well, that, and the fact that you enjoyed it.
    All my best, my friend, and thanks again!

He's gotta eat that popcorn real fast, man. Or at least offer her some..you never know, she might be real big on popcorn. That was a real good short, short story. You're a master when it come to horror and I'm such a big fan of horror stories. I liked the easy, natural style of the piece. Nice.

    Thank you, giftsun. You should offer up a piece of horror flash or micro fiction of your own for the book. Submissions are open to everyone. All I ask is that the stories be kept under 500 words, and have a horror theme, of course. Being a fan of horror stories yourself, I'm certain you could come up with something very entertaining.
    Thanks again for your review. I do appreciate it.

A twisted tale of horror with a touch of voyeurism to tantalize to tainted souls of the victim, complete with popcorn and a neighborly visit. Most cunning. Another creepy gem. Don't date that girl.
