"Perdina" is a marvelous addition to the book "Love Songs For Every Heart". Truly, it has a lot to say about a young person's struggle and actually projects a solution for her dilemma. Beautifully told, MissM.

Thank you for another golden star, and for reading this long poem when it was worth only two cents. You are a true friend! loved what you said about Perdina. It is a poem born of love for someone wandering lost.

If only this could be the happy ending for all those who left a
family who loved them much more than realized. Rebellion is part of the growth process, almost all experience it and wonder to where they think the grass is greener. Sadly, we know, all don't come home.
Beautiful story, skillfully told . I'm out of 'sixes'.

Published novelist and famed poet extraordinaire, Heather Graham, once told me after she'd read one of my darker poems (Reiny Daze, I think it was), "Dear Dean, when it comes to poetry, please try and remember that shorter is always better." But of course, I begged to differ, and I feel the same way in the case of this epic piece, Adonna. Sometimes it takes more than just the customary four, perhaps five, stanzas to tell a complete story.

Not only is this poem long, but it's also well rhymed and flows very smoothly, and the melancholy yet inspirational story it tells is an excellent one at that.

Heather is the NYT and USA Today bestselling author of over two hundred novels including suspense, paranormal, historical, and mainstream fare, but that doesn't mean she's an expert. Okay, maybe it does, but length is all a matter of perception, isn't it? I very much enjoyed your rather lengthy poem about a young girl who gets lost in the woods, and perhaps lost a bit in her own life as well, and finds the generosity of kind strangers during her travels.

Excellent work. ~Dean

A beautiful allegory, Adonna - How wonderful that Perdina found her way. The cabin represented a place of salvation to me, such as a church or sanctuary, and the people in the home represented charity and benevolence, who proffered the sustenance required for the body and soul to heal.
I pray that all that lose their way find such a place of healing. We all need a place to stop and assess who we are, and then if we choose to, the hope of returning to a place or time in our lives where we can find security.
I loved that she returned to the cabin with her son. It provided her with the chance to let him see that same kindness for himself - and perhaps one day to pay it forward.
Great write, m'dear. Yes, a little long - but well worth the read.
Sorry - nary a six left.
Rose.

This is an excellent story poem that reminded me of the parables of the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan. This poem is vivid. Your descriptions sucked me into this story about Perdina's encounter with angels of mercy. You created a narrative arc that went from loss to found. Your close of the mother and son looking up at the house that sheltered her touched me. thank you for sharing this exceptional poem.

This is a very fine poem full of allegory - a story in a poem. It has a sweet perfume of the tale of the Good Samaritan, a moral and uplifting tale of goodness and the gift of one reborn. Excellent poetics - rhyme, rhythm, imagery - a very good read.

Could this be a start of a poetic book about Perdina? I think so and I'd use this poem as the introductory chapter... You could add so much, much more about "Perdina..." Beautifully penned with wonderful use of artwork. Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming. Let me know if you decide to turn this into a book of poems about "Perdina...," Deb
