You have written an absolutely beautiful poem.
It is a very clever idea to use each individual color to describe hope, grace and newness.
The rainbow is the window into the future
What better shawl, gown or cape to pull around you than a rainbow
And dance, for that is what a rainbow is, a colors dancing in the sky.
The rainbow is what comes after the storm, a new beginning.
Beautifully penned and deserving of every vote it received and more.
Well done.

Your poem is as beautiful as the artwork you selected. It is written and has a clear message which match your authors notes. Very well done. I am glad God has brought these colours back into your life and that you can feel them enough to express them so vividly. Good luck in your contest. Thank you for sharing.

Well, I have very little color in my own world, but I certainly appreciate those who have been able to attain some modicum of it.
Your lovely, well composed free verse clearly demonstrates your faith in God, and how thankful you are for having weathered your personal storms, and come through the other side a much stronger person for having endured them.

Best of luck to you in the contest, Anonymous Poet.

This is such a nice way to look at life! I liked the similes you used and especially enjoyed the idea of "pulling the ribbons around me as I dance." What a wonderful metaphor and you've written a great poem for this rainbow writing prompt. Definitely, no shades of black or grey for you.

The has managed to write about a rainbow with doing the normal generalisation of the word.
Each colour having a reason to bebthere
Each colour highlighted with loving care
A entry for the competition

"And I pull the ribbons around during me as I dance" beautiful word imagery throughout.
The use of the rainbow and all its colors to express the passages of your feelings and life was inspirational and clever

I like your imagery of colors as a part of your life, and how the ultimate color comes through for your salvation - well done.

So glad to see you're posting again. This one is magnificent - it reads like a prayer of petition and a prayer of gratitude at the same time. The content of the poem fits the metaphor of a rainbow perfectly - promise of better times after the flood. I loved the line "For I lived in that world of black" and then listing the colors that you needed in the subsequent lines. Love the words "As I dance" bookending the poem. Truly, one of the best poems I've ever read on this site.

I read the other entries and nothing comes remotely close. This one goes on the shelf.

When I read that you would be putting it on the shelf, I grew an inch taller.(I'm 5'1"). Blessings, my friend.
