Ah yes, the Haiku. This one is carefully crafted to pay tribute to the lovely rose. Beyond their obvious beauty are two of their other attributes that you describe so well here - their fragrance and those thorns.

Hi Patricia,

This is a nice haiku poem for the photo you took. The flower is beautiful and your poem is wonderful. It seems like I am getting worse and worse at writing poetry. I can never think of things to write about. That's what happens when a person gets forgetful.

I was thinking the same thing as it doesn't seem like I'm coming up with anything to write.

Aw, this is very beautiful, Pat. I love roses, they are my favorite flower and then the carnation. The picture is so perfect for this Haiku and the count is right on! 5/7/5 for both of them. Nicely done. :>D Miss Sally

Very nice art work to showcase your poem. Every word captures the picture. The words of the poem was predictable, but still so beautifully expressed. Great job.

Please check your title, Ie=Is; just an observation. I agree. A rose is a rose. I've been pricked by them once too often. And, my fingers did bleed lots due to my diabetes... Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming. God Bless, Deb

Hi Patricia,

Good words about a rose. While a Rose is a delightful story, one does need to be aware of the truth, they come with builtin protection from animals that would won't to eat them.

I always think the rose is a good comparison to us showing that we can be both 'beautiful' and 'thorny' at the same time. Great haiku.

The beauty of a rose
Moves the heart to sigh
For the wonder of the petals
Are part of the scent to inspire

Still the thorns are real
They come to pick the finger
Sometimes the heart is also picked
When the rose is more then a flower
