Patriotic scene is brought with the picture and the honor by the poem sounds a memorial to the fought soldiers. Sounds to be most attracted by war zone soldiers who love to give their life for the country. Recommended for the national fighters.

I agree with your message. I wish we would honor veterans a designated week each year, like Mardi Gras Week in New Orleans. I think a law should be passed. I believe veterans deserve more than just one weekend of celebration in the USA.Servicemen participating in wars and activities to protect our daily freedoms deserve loyalty, support, and the utmost respect.

I like this. I am not, from what little I know, sure the last line fits the "satori" requirement. In fact, I like the poem better not know it is supposed to be a haiku, but just a short poem saying a lot in three lines.

Thanks for the five stars and the comment. The third line of my haiku "People and events" means
we honor fallen soldiers, we celebrate, for instance, Christmas and we commemorate, bring to mind, events that happened in the pass.

Yes, I know this Monday is Memorial Day in the US. my daughter is off work and is in Toronto to give a talk. I think holidays whatever the country are most important, we need to pay tribute to our Armed Forces for their sense of duty and service to our countries, the real heroes. There are so many things these days that are celebrated by special one-off days. I suppose these do have the effect of throwing an occasional spotlight, though you are absolutely right, the subject of your poem and many other once-a-year events - like Mothers Day - are more appropriately honoured throughout the year.
