I already thought it was for this prompt. I think you chose nice repeating lines. Your love left you, and you hurt and are broken-hearted. The photo complements
your poem perfectly. Best wishes for the prompt.

I guess you could say I have been started, for this prompt indeed. Thanks for your comments and support.

This is a good rant poem - straight and forward you tell it like it is. Great repeating line. Best to you in the contest.

H-m-m-m-m-m-mmmmmmmmmmm...Now, I wonder who could have written this? It smacks of sadness, and has a definite country & western vibe to it.

It's well composed, reads like song lyrics, and more than aptly conveys the pain and anguish one feels when a lover leaves him ( or her...ahem) behind. It fits the contest theme perfectly, with repetitive lines and a well paced, brisk rhyming scheme, presented in what can be called a quintain, a quintet, or a cinquain. However, the word cinquain is also used both for a particular verse form of French origin, and for a particular syllable-counting form (of no great merit or interest, as far as I can see). I'll therefore stick with quintain as the general word for this form of 5-line stanza poetry.

All that aside, I almost entered this contest. Yet after having read this, I'm kinda glad I didn't waste my funny money now. My repetitive poem would have been something about death, or those monsters that lurk under our beds (or worse, inside our own heads.) That could have never competed with the likes of this.

Good work, BMW, and good luck with this one.

~Dean ;)

Dean, you are too much my friend. And I appreciate every little bit of it too. You always have a kind and encouraging word for me. I am going to recognize you for the monthly reviewer award.

Aw, you don't have to do that, my friend, but I appreciate it. You want to make me happy? Keep doing your thing and allow no one to dissuade you. That'll do it!

Best of luck to you in the contest. ;)

There have recently been several times I have wanted to quit this site, especially after some of the abuse I have received from writers I refused to give a 5-Star review to that did not deserve one just to appease them, but it has been encouragement from you that has convinced me to stay here and do what I do, even though I was very recently told my Country music writings are irrelevant on this site by such a writer. Relevant or not they are me and I intend to keep doing my thing here until they run me off. So, stay tuned my friend. Much more to come.

I will... keep tuning in, I mean.
Being one who writes horror for a living, I completely understand and can relate to harsh criticism. You have to grow a very tough skin in our line of work.

Don't let the nay sayers detract you from doing what you love.

    Stephen King once said, and I quote;
"Writing isn't about making money, getting rich, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends. In the end, it's about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life, as well. It's about getting up, getting well, and getting over. Getting happy, okay? Getting happy. Writing is magic, as much the water of life as any other creative art. The water is free, so drink. Drink, and be filled up."

I think that pretty much sums it up...don't you?

Yes I do and it reminds me of what my philosophy about my writing has always been. I write for my own enjoyment and for that of those who read it. So, I will write on regardless of what criticisms I receive. As a Nashville Country Music Songwriter, mostly, I have had more rejections trying to pitch songs to be performed than the rejection of not getting all 6-Star reviews on this site or not pleasing everybody that reads my writing. Talk about having doors slammed in your face. Been there. Done that. I know my niche and I believe I fill it fairly well.

Me too. That's really what it's all about. If we aren't pleased with what we've done, and what we're doing, then how in the hell can we expect anyone else to be? it doesn't work that way.

So I will write on all the Classic Country I want to. And, as I said I really do appreciate your support and encouragement. Thanks my friend.

I definitely think this should be a song, with all the repetition of lines and verses
It's well-written, and really emphasizes the feelings of loss and broken-heartedness, I think this poem came from a deep place, and it makes me sad, (appropriately)
Thank you for sharing it

Well done. I thought you did a good job employing the repetition of the lines. The emotion shared in your poem is right on the surface. I also like how the repetitions contrasts exactly what this poem is about. Getting started.

This meets the contest requirements beautifully. I have to say it reads quite lyrically and has the makings of a great song with the right music. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.
