Pollution in the air and body is causing disease and early death. Fumes from exhaust pipes in machines, chemical vapors, toxins in pesticides in the food we buy, side effects of chemicals in prescription drugs. Toxins are also being injected in our bodies through plastic surgery and chemical to prevent normal aging of the body.I wish people would accept the natural process of life dictated by God. I think it is foolish to make people rich by volunteering to allow them to poison your body.

Hi Artisart - a good 3/5/3 with correct syllable count. Good environmental message on an important subject. Though not clearly mentioning 'air' in any form, I think most readers will interpret this as creating foul air which is damaging the atmosphere. Good luck in the contest and warm regards Dorothy x

Thank you for the five stars and comment. Sorry it wasn't clear enough but I assumed that people knew
POLLUTANTS ARE bad and they are found INDOORS as well as OUTDOORS and they are UNHEALTHY. Indoors they can be found for example in the chemicals we use.
    Once again, thank you.

Contrary to popular belief, indoor pollutants cause harm as outdoor pollutants do. Your small poem has a deep message for creating awareness about what factors are responsible for environmental pollution.

Pollutants
Indoors or outdoors
Unhealthy

A good haiku that meets with the criteria. As we all know, pollution anywhere is dangerous and harmful. A worthy point to make, no doubt.
The only missing like probably was the poetic touch. Best of luck.

Thanks for the five stars and comment, since I was concern about the last line I went online and this is what I found online. I thought it did not have to rhyme and the last line sums up the other two.

If you have time read this, ok. I just copy and paste, the mistakes were made by the person. May haiku is spelled "haiku" somewhere, who knows.

No. They don't have to rhyme. In fact, original Japanese Haiku poems do not rhyme! Most hiaku have only seventeen symbols, generally arranged in three lines of five, seven and five symbols.

Hiakui is a form of non-rhyming poetry that 'captures the moment' in a few words.

    An old pond!
    A frog jumps in-
    The sound of water.

In English a rhyming haiku may sound jingly. But in some other languages where rhyme is deeply entrenched (Urdu, Sindhi, Balochi) the first and third lines of a haiku usually do rhyme.

I don't mean the end-rhyming at all. In fact, they are not supposed to rhyme! I mean, the choice of words - alliteration, the flow.... the beauty of language. Just writing a theme may not win the contest.

No, I was worried that I did not do it right and I wanted to confirm it, so I went on time. You are right you can have all this the right things and still not win.
I understand your reply and once again, THANKS FOR THE FIVE STARS AND COMMENT :)

Simple and to the point on so many levels. Your use of the picture compliments the poem perfectly as a seemingly pastoral scene but on closer examination, one sees the old tire dumped unceremoniously on the shore and an unhealthy sheen to the water. The starkness of the trees and time of day also play a huge part in the overall effect. The first three letters of the three lines speak to me as well; they seem to say PeeU as in the smell of pollutants. I know it's an I but to me sounds like e. Man just doesn't get the picture on the state of our planet and continues to wreak havoc upon it inside and out. Thanks for being blunt and hitting the nail on its proverbial head with this one. Well done.

Well, the fact stated is all it needs. Said exactly as it is. No trimmings or beating around the bush. The statement is clear.
Have a great day.

You are right, of course. There is a multitude of pollutants in our world today and most of them are man-made. Although many countries have legislation in place to reduce the problem, it is one that does not seem to go away.

Hi, Artisart...

So true, one doesn't always think about pollution in side, but with all the insecticides, cleaning agents, the is pollution there as well.

Well penned---gives food for thought. Good luck.

Cheers & Blessings
