This reminds me of a prayer I recited as a little girl and that I still remember by heart.
I like the way you have divided your poem into two parts.

This is just good advice. I like that you have retold the scripture in your own words. Children are so precious and innocent until they are start to mature and have more temptations. If they could take these words to heart, it would be a better world.

Thanks Brett for the nice review. many parents will throw the children's part at the kids, yet not take note of what is being said to parents.

Simple advices for both children and parents have been given nicely in the poem. In many instances, such advices are generally directed only for the children. You have balanced them between childen and parents as it ought to be. Some parents do not realize that too much control on their children could be counter-productive.

This is a very dour view there is a "spare the rod and spoil the child" feel about it that I have to say does not appeal to me. But of course that is subjective, I'd like to be be more objective. The piece is competently written and refreshingly brief.
