This is outstanding!!! I love it. The rhythm, the creative subject, the scene setting -- everything is perfectly coordinated. It is especially well done when one realizes two persons worked together on it. You both had to be on the same wave length and having fun. Great job. ann

Hi Ann, good to see you again. I had so much fun yesterday!!
Thank you for the six stars. I appreciate the read, review and stars. It was a fun poem to write, and it's funny, but we were so similar in our styles, few people could tell where one of us started and the other ended. We co-wrote several poems. He was one of the greats on this site. He's still alive, but isn't publishing here any more. I keep up with him on FaceBook.
    Take care,
    Warm fuzzy hugs,

Oh, it can indeed be painful to have our writing examined and diagnosed by an expert, and this too could cost real money. But in the end, it is up to us to maintain our writer's health. This was not only funny, but amazing in how your crafted it. Semi-colons aside, this is good writing.

You are so very right, Ginda, and you are one of the few that really got the point of the poem and how painful it can be to navigate through all the rules and still produce a memorable poem. It can, also, be hard to navigate the reviews sometimes, lol.
It was a bit of a fun write, and I'm so happy you stopped by to review it,
    Take care,

Rhonda This was absolutely charming. I didn't want it to end. Each line more delightful than the one before it,... I wondered where each line would be taking it.

I can't believe you were able to go so far; but the poem was working the whole way and never stopped entertaining.
Thank you for sharing this and I can't wait to hear more about your lunch

Awww, thank you, Debi!! I appreciate the six stars and the review. I'm glad you had as much fun with it as we did. I'll have to message Fez on FaceBook and tell him we've got it going again. Maybe he can open his account for a bit and join in.

He really is a funny guy, and has experiences upon experiences to share.

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

You have posted a very clever satirical poem involving pesky punctuation problems. The excellent rhyming couplets successfully lead readers to a fitting funny conclusion. :-)

Thank you so much for your review and comments, Daylily! It was a bit of fun with a friend as we tired of trying to get it all right, lol.

This is a fun writing. I found it hilarious, and it gave me my chuckle for the day. It is very creative and well-executed. I love the rhthem throughout the whole poem. Nice work.

Thank you so much, my friend. It was fun to write with Fez, if you remember him. Sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh at things.

Oh I see Rhonda! I'm afraid I got right to the end before I realised you were talking about semi-colons. What a mug I am! Was completely taken in by what sounded like quite a painful medical procedure. They are a bind aren't they? And the more I worry about punctuation, the worse it becomes. But I can't see one of the blighters in your very emotional outpouring here (which I fully enjoyed reading). Instead, I read a fun and original verse with a message that the damned things are not needed after all:) Thanks for sharing, Debbie

    Hi Debbie!!
Thank you for trudging through the poem so you could find the sarcasm built into it. I think we did a few others about other forms of punctuation. Sometimes you just have to sit back and grin when it all gets so technical. Other times, you have to worry about the details.

I knew it was a metaphor for something but didn't see the semi-colon within the compound word. makes you wonder how on earth it got its name (and talking about punctuation, what about this word 'its' which is very confusing when considering whether it should have an apostrophe?

This is a fun poem that comes out correctly. I had a friend who wrote a Civil war story (I'll admit badly) and spent a fortune on a book doctor. He turned it into a horror novel and his writing was worse than hers. A semi-colonoscopy is a cute word for what he was doing, but I can't believe he would improve on your writing.

Hi Carol. I'm glad you had fun with the poem, that was it's purpose, and it arose after we had discussed the use of semi colons, and to be honest, I don't remember why we did. But Feral has an amazing sense of humor and we decided to write a poem together about it.

Lord knows I need a semi-colonoscopy! If only I could see them on the dang keyboard! This is hilarious ,by the way and written perfectly. I don't remember this poet as I was not around then. I'm glad you were able to find this and repost. A pure delight for my reviewing day.

Sending you my best today as always, my friend.

Awww, I'm glad you liked it. I met with Terry, Ann and Sarah for lunch and we were talking about it, so I decided to post it.

Feral is a long story, but he was really active on here at one time. He was raised by the aborigines in Australia after running away from a horribly abusive home. He's a sweetheart and a character, for sure!

So, not gonna lie, Terry totally told me to check this out...

Yay you and your co-writer!

I come from the old Emily Dickinson original style of writing before publishers shuffled in after her death and inserted punctuation...

She was a dash gal-- Sometimes a comma--but never right where it ought to be.

I tend to insert (over-insert) a comma when I take a pause... (No grammar basis at all)

(Then, as the joke goes, I spend thirty minutes taking it out and reinserting it)

Likewise...I think suspiciously that semi-colons were introduced to drive us batty!

Love your collaboration here, Rhonda...

I went off and "Googled" the correct use of a semi-colon and it gave me the same anaphylactic reaction as Quadratic Equations...or Shellfish...

(Although I only miss the shellfish)

I will say this: I have never ONCE read a truly moving and powerful poem in free verse or structured form and sat back, soggy tissues in hand to think, "Damn! If only he/she had used that semicolon correctly!"

Love your title... Did you two have to take a 24 hour "prep" before writing this?

Still howling!

(I did not dare insert a semi-colon within this review~since I have no earthly clue where it'd go!)

Great write!

Karenina

Thank you for your wonderful review, Karenina. Feral was a star on FanStory for quite a while. He was raised in Australia by Aboriginals, which is a whole story in itself.

He came up with the title and we sort of went with it in this co-authored poem. It's actually in a form they call Bush Poetry, which we co-wrote several in.

Lots of fun, and I'm definitely in need of comma oscopies, rhy osopies, and many other, lol.
Thanks for having fun with this!

I am so sorry I missed this poem the first time around. Thank you for reposting it. This poem is fun to read and read musically. I could help but smile. My poetry would need much more than a Semi-Colonoscopy.

Thanks for stopping by to review. I'll have to tell Feral on FaceBook that I reposted it. He'll get a kick out of it.
