This is a very funny piece of poetry about the use of semi-colons although the mention of colonoscopy makes my heart beat faster lol. I enjoyed the rhymes and near rhymes, eg, life and ice. Well done!

    Hi Wendy,
Fez was the one who actually coined the phrase after a discussion on the use of semi-colons, so we decided to write a joint poem about it.

    Take care,

loved this meta poem about the problem with writing poetry i will enter the contest soon but this is a winning entry like the last lines the best

I winced and cried and finally gave a clear resounding shout,
I didn't know what was really wrong and what this was all about,
he made this trouble seem as though, the problem all was me,
and deep down I know its source this Semi-Colonoscopy.

I came to make my poetry well and not to build my strife,
but he made me pay good money I had promised to my wife.
My poetry was good all along, so he should have let it be,
and never did I really need this Semi-Colonoscopy.

    Hi Jake,
Thanks for spending time to read this older poem. It was so much fun to write and I had told other people about it on this site, so I dug it out. I figured the message was timeless as we all have to pay attention to details when writing.
    Take care,

This is a really good humorous poem, Rhonda. It looks like you dug this out of the archives.

I'm having trouble with my verse,
But after your poem, I see
That things might go from bad to worse
With a semi-colonoscopy.

I did dig into the archives, Paul. I met with three other writers in person Saturday and was telling them about the poem, so decided to repost it. I'm glad you dropped in to review it.

As someone who has had a real 'colonoscopy', I was drawn to this by your title and then I realised what a clever play on words it was. Well done! This is most amusing and beautifully crafted.

Oh, I?ve had one, too, John, and it saved my life. The Semi-colonoscopy is another matter. It?s still working on me, lol!

I love how you two got from semicolons to a semi- colonoscopy. I must admit it was that title that drew me in to this fun write. Plus I can relate to problems with meter LOL
Enjoyed it, cheers

Hi Pearl, thanks for reading our poem. The title was created by Fez, he has an enormous sense of humor and I got to be a part of his fun. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself!

    Take care,

This is an excellent poem; it's a lot of fun, too. I enjoyed reading it. Your presentation is very good, too. You also use descriptive words and colorful imagery that draw in a reader. I personally use semi colons because I spent a lot of time, money, and effort to learn about them as part of my master's degree. So I use them whenever I can. lol

Best wishes!

Alexandra

Nice, Alexandra! I?m afraid Fez and I had little formal training with them. Actually, I?m speaking for myself. Fez is really smart and we were having some fun with the subject.
Thanks for reviewing. Now I know who to consult on the subject.

Ugh. I was way off. I work in a pharmacy and colonoscopy means on thing. Lol. Your verses were entertaining and once I caught on I was howling. Great poem. Gretchen

Haha, I?m glad we got a chuckle from you. Fez was the one who coined the term after a debate on the subject. It sounded so funny we decided to co write a poem.

    Thanks for giving your input,

I totally loved this poem and your humorous look at using the semi-colon incorrectly. I know I am guilty of this and other punctuation mistakes all the time. (Sometimes I try to cover it up by claiming free verse and writer's prerogative! Lol) Thanks for sharing this with us.

Haha, I love your comments!! You don't see me posting poetry often, either. I offend all sorts of rules and people. Poets are just plain smart!!
    Thanks again

Uh, this is funny Rhonda. I never came across this wonderful poem that you and Fez wrote in unison back in 2015.
Now, I was just thinking about him the other day. Do you know how he's doing? Ulla xcx

    Hi Ulla,
I have him as a friend of Facebook and he's his same old self. He keeps adopting children, and praising his beautiful wife, who, it seems, is a wonderful cook. You should look him up on FaceBook. He would love to hear from you.
We have a sequel to this poem I'll probably publish next week. It's about other types of punctuation. We had too much fun!!

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

This is was a fun poem written by two poets. It's been suggested that I need semicolons instead of commas but I steer away from those freaky looking and use them sparingly. I can't afford the doctor.

Haha, yeah, the semi-colon doctor is too expensive!
I hardly ever use one, and I think I did and he asked me why I did, and that started it all. He's a very funny guy, but not one you ever wanted to mix swords, or metaphors with.
    Thanks so much for reviewing.
