These are some interesting observations that seem to state that the progression of a century has taken us from the certainty of who we are in an certain age, to the uncertainty of who we are in an uncertain age. That sounds downhill to me.

I was thoroughly confused by this, I'm afraid. What message is the author sending? Who is the third party. Is s/he saying we can't tell the difference between men and women anymore? Does s/he think things were better in 1900? I'm afraid this is just too confusing to me to be sure exactly what is being said.

This piece is aimed at thinking people, not at those who need things drawn, labelled and spelled out.

Very well done. The journey through cultural development is accurate, simply stated, and a fun read. You have a strong contender for this prompt. Best wishes. Rod

Story well written. Action flows smoothly. Easy to follow story line. Descriptive language well used throughout and holds reader's interest. Write on.

Hi there,

You have tried to outline the differences in a number of ways. However, they all seem to be very stereotypical. Hair styles depending on wealth? Ridiculous. Most women have short hair? Very great generalisations and indeed not really true.

Also in the 1900s many men also wore long hair, and not all worked either. The piece is quite shallow in its depiction.

There are still really only two sexes - men and women. The battle I feel you are referring to is sexuality which is not the same thing at all. In fact, homosexuality has been around for much longer than people care to admit, including in Biblical times. Old Testament.

Technical the write is spot on but a little muddled and generalised.

My answer: definitely regressing, without mutual respect between the sexes there isn't much hope. There are some traditional couples left and maybe it is our duty to encourage others to learn how to be nice to each other and society in general. Well expressed views and differences observed. It should read Ph.D. Good luck in the contest. Faye

Solid and effective.

You contrast 1900 men and women by clothing, hair style and earnings, with the latter being most effective: men earning money, women earning respect.

In our more complex 2015 there is physically a hybrid from unisex to androgyny. The complexity brings its demons of "progress" into the halls of psychiatry.

Exceptionally well done, Nicole. This is deep and layered. If I had a six this would get it!

Working straight from the prompt. I'm not sure the language warning is essential, but that's neither here nor there. You draw a pretty good picture of men then and now and women then and now. Good luck.

Yeah, today it can be hard to tell the difference. Some look like porcupines and I wouldn't want to get close enough to peek. But there are some things that will never change. Good luck in the contest.
