The great delusions of Hollywood.. In real life a gay man but in character a family man of six with a loving wife who never lost his temper.. Great write that brought back many memories for quite a few people old enough to remember!!

I am sorry that I don't know who this man is but you made a well written Senryu about him. Six kids, a wife and a good job. Dot on syllable count. Nicely laid out.

I grew up watching that show! Life seemed so simple then. Apparently the actor who played Mike Brady was classically trained and the simplistic scripts drove him crazy. He still cashed the checks though. Amusing senryu. I must try this form.

Ah yes, Bill, the irony is perfect isn't it? Somehow my guess is there weren't very many men, women or children who could live up to the Brady Bunch standard.
Gotta love that TV. Without the proper supervision it can breed a lot of illusion and dissatisfaction.

Actor Robert Reed was the father that many future fathers aspired to one day be. I always watched the Brady Bunch series as a kid with my two younger brothers and parents. Even as good, caring and kind as Mr. Brady was, I remember always thinking that my dad was even better. Reed was homosexual, but kept this fact private, fearing it would damage his career. After his death, Reed's Brady Bunch co-stars - most notably Barry Williams and Florence Henderson - publicly acknowledged Reed's sexual orientation, and admitted that most of the cast and crew of The Brady Bunch were aware, but they did not discuss it with Reed.
Reed's death was initially attributed solely to cancer, but details from his death certificate were made public revealing that Reed was HIV positive.
Still, from its debut in September 1969, through 1974, Michael Brady was considered the typical role model for fathers everywhere.

+ Good use of enjambment which is the running on of a thought and concept one stanza and line to the next without a syntactical break.
+ Juxtaposition technique of association and similarity, which is the distinct use of two images within one stanza or poem. He used the distinct similarities of the man and role model.
