Early settlers sure did face some tough times, often exacerbated by bringing farming techniques from the northern hemisphere into the southern. I'm glad that the Scouts are now enjoying Whare Flat. I was amused by the pronunciation ' Forry' - almost as good as George Bernard Shaw's spelling of 'fish' as 'ghoti', using the peculiar pronunciation of the English language to support his logic.

Ah, there's something so mournful about a place that went bust. We have ghost towns scattered all over this country.
I'm glad the land is being given a new purpose. I wonder if the ghosts turn up the stories the boys tell around the campfire?

Peace, Lee
