Hey, Kar

You're just the best writer with these kid's stories! I love them. You so well capture the essence of the child's voice. Your ability to weave in the perfect words and phrasing allows the reader to visualize both the mother, wide eyed at times, and the innocent child just pushing those buttons without even realizing he is.

I loved these lines the best: "Ohhhh, that's easy. It's cuz that's how God made me!" He smeared the white mustache on the hem of his Cubs T-shirt. "God made you the bestest cleaner-upper in the whole wide world, Mom. Wanna help?"

So well done, ProseWoman!

Great moment with Mr. Questions. Our son asked all kinds of questions, and still does. Why do you have a hump on your back, lady? Why are you so much darker than me, mister? Why does my mom say you're goofy? I like your dialog and characterizations. Happy day.

I am so thrilled you kept that unfinished file. I may want to peruse my own.

You wrote a fun and engaging conversation that held my attention. Did this really happen or did you make it up?

I liked how Max turned around his mother's pat answer when asked why he is such a messy kid:

"Ohhhh, that's easy. It's cuz that's how God made me!"

Thank you for making me smile.

It's a cute little scene, with an overactive kid and indeterminate age. This is appealing because of it's light hearted tone and good vibes. Sometimes we need to read things that are simple and just feel good. A reminder of easier times. Well done.

I enjoyed this piece! Your flow was constant and the wording and language really sets this piece up. You can feel the characters and are able to sit in their world for a moment. The mother's love and adoration of her son is clear as is his for his mother. You captured the inquisitive mind of a child very well and a mother's everlasting patience and appreciation in a fun way. A great snapshot and nostalgic reminder of the bond between a parent and a child growing up. Thanks for sharing.

Indianairish: having raised three kids, watched three grandkids grow and now have a 3 year old great-grandson, I remember and know all those questions. The mistake we sometimes make is answering from an adult mind instead of keeping it simple and on a level they can understand. Sometimes their questions are funny, sometimes serious and sometimes they leave us with our mouths hanging open! A cute story which I enjoyed reading. I see no reason to change it or to improve it. livelylinda

This is very entertaining, Karyn. You use kid speak very effectively to give Max an authentic voice. His continual questions are so reminiscent of my own children when young and I know this will resonate very well with most people who've been there, done that. The questions are delightful and the mother handles them well. The baby question was well done; funny as.
The arc of conversation comes full circle when he decides God made him messy and Mum into a slave. Very funny and enjoyable, I must say.

Thank you, Mark, for your great review and comments for my short story. I'm delighted you enjoyed it, and appreciate your taking the time to read and share your thoughts. I'm glad you liked the kids peak, and thank you for your kind words and encouragement. We spell the flower dandelion, but I wanted to make it sound more like a kid would say it-- dandy lion.

Wonderful indeed. Kept me busy till end. I liked the action darted through correct usage of the words in the story. Like for example, "How's come dandylion puffs blow away like the 'chutes airplane jumpers use?" and "from the moment his feet jumped out of bed until his mind shut down to sleep.". Lovely kept me engrossed. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.
