Strange why we dream what we do.. perhaps your subconscious mind had been reflecting on death, on worry, who knows.. it's obvious you fear going before your dad..or feared it, if he is no longer with you. Anyway.. sorry for babbling.. wow, what a fantastic read! I found myself feeling a bit guilty enjoying it so, considering your notes..congratulations on a much deserved win!

Well, I haven't won yet, Dawn, the contest is still going on, and it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. Oops! Is saying that considered politically incorrect these days, LOL?
It was the most horrifying nightmare I believe I've ever had, Dawn, hands down! And I have had quite a few. One of the worst things about it was that was awake and fully conscience. I could hear and see my dad weeping as he worked on my corpse. I could hear, smell --but thankfully not feel -- everything going on around me. Yet, I couldn't move and was completely helpless to do anything about any of it. Another part that terrified most of all was that everyone in the dream -- the mourners, my father -- all spoke like William Shakespeare. And I loathe Shakespeare, LOL!
Thanks so much again for your outstanding review, my friend. It is appreciated. :}

This does sound like a truly horrific nightmare for anyone to have. It would be bad enough for one to know they were being embalmed but to know that ones father is the one who has to perform the procedure.

That indeed is a nightmare writer. I don't often read this kind of work, but those who know me know I am not a fan of horror Don't Kill for that is bad. Sweet Pat ;-)

Thanks, patcelaw, but the poor soul in this poem didn't kill anyone. He simply awoke after dying from natural causes, only to find his father was embalming him. What caused you to believe either one of these two men in this poem killed anyone?
Just wondering...
Thanks for your review.
